Next year confirmed release! James saying it should be a ten track, but can't think which track should be moved. "It's that good".
Well something to look forward to next year then!

Leave them open for the inevitable "we can't believe we left it off" reissue in 20 years

Great interview as well, clearly a fan or at least someone who's done their homework!

Nicky's solo album and MSP tracks have become some of my favs. We've been really lucky with the band, 2020 - jdb 2, 21 - tuvl, 22 - kye redux, 23 - Nicky 2 along with the last tour. Some other fans of bands like tool etc get f all for years

Oh above and beyond the call of duty these Manics! You get your money's worth with these.

Yeah I was just thinking the same. What an era it's been. Unlike RIF, it feels like a real era, what with all "the times" we've been. And them releasing something every year with all this ongoing. The full picture hadn't quite clicked with me until Even in Exile clicked yesterday -- the glorious ending of Partida to Santiago Sunrise in all its prog rock beauty.

2020: Even in Exile
Tremendous conceptual solo effort from JDB. Manics meets War on Drugs meets Chilean folk music. There'll Come a War is an all-time great, but many others too.

2021: The Ultra-Vivid Lament
Solid new 70s-themed album that has some of their best band efforts since Futurology in Sapporo, My Drowning World and Afterending. Hasn't quite unfolded for me yet but there's time

2022: Know Your Enemy: Solidarity and Door to the River
Know Your Enemy reconceptualized as a double album, with new (great) mixes and a lost classic in Rosebud. A too-good-to-be-true piece of historic revisionism. And they're also touring America with Suede!

2023: A yet to be released solo album from Nicky who just did Drowning World, the best track for me of TUVL. When James says it's amazing, I don't doubt it for a moment. This has the chance to surprise us all with being the highlight of all this.

----

It's an all-out great time for recorded music right now, after the dismal, alienating end of 10s. Before the pandemic, streaming and touring had totally destroyed the recording industry, great bands were releasing nothing. Then the pandemic came and whaddayaknow, take bands off their brutal touring machine and they start recording great music again.

2024: Lifeblood reimagining? Or new Manics album. That'll be great!

No one really talks about it, but GATS20 in 2020 too. And the tour if you're American.

GATS20! I can move my head slightly left and see it. We also forgot to mention the Spotify playlists. It counts.

I’d heard this might be on the cards - but to hear it’s coming early next year is really exciting for me. I loved IKTZ (although haven’t listened to it in a long while). Hopefully this news will give me the push I need to go back to it! Quite excited to heard JDB confirm this! 😀

Nicky's emergence as the MSP's latter day hitmaker may make this something quite special

Is there a list of Nicky-penned songs past-Lifeblood? I might be wrong but wasn't It's Not War Just The End of Love and YLAINE both his?

Marlon JD is Nick's and that is a cracker and an absolute joy to play. She Bathed in a Bath of Bleach is his too.

Hard to remember the others but based on demo's, these are what I remember that Nick write the melody for excluding those where he sings on the final product:

Rewind the Film
Liverpool Revisited
Divine Youth
4 Lonely Roads
Don't Let the Night Divide Us
Complicated Illusions

To be fair though, his version of Its not War (if someone wants to share that, I'll be eternally grateful) is very very different to the final product and more akin to Everything Fades.

While I disagree that Nick is a hit-maker, I'm still stunned at his versatility as a songwriter. While there's some limitations in his vocal range, if you just take the examples above, there's a wide range of styles. I'm genuinely more interested in his solo album than a new Manics album as I'm pretty sure it will sound like nothing we've heard before. (Engage your shadow x12 is the dream!)

I have recently played IKTZ and enjoyable a haunting listen it was, there was still this nagging "Yeah but imagine what his new stuff is like?".
But it didn't effect my listening. That much.

Will this ever come out?
It was supposed to happen when Even In Exile did (ΰ-la-pre-SATT), but it didn't. Does anyone have more news?
