Hahaha! I forgot to make a thread for it! Can't remember when I bought it. Still have original.
The case hinges are white worn and still intact. Listened to CD1 probably more than FD and National Treasures compilations combined.
Wow, I remember 20 years ago. The press had moved onto Libertines etc. They seemed out of place and I knew they'd still be able to get back to previous heights. It took a while.

Happy Birthday Lipstick Traces! I'm going to have to read the actual book it got it's title from.

It was an interesting era for the band. It felt like the turning point at which they started to embrace their past; whilst they played the singles from their back catalogue, they didn't touch anything much else (a few select album tracks from THB aside). That seemed to change after the Lipstick Traces live shows.

Their live sound really got got a kick in the arse from Lipstick Traces onwards. From EMG to FD, James's live guitar playing seemed languid and downright plodding. The solo's to You Love Us devolved into to basic blues chords. From Lipstick Traces onwards James really seemed to fall in love with playing lead guitar and the solo to Song for Departure was an eruptive return to form. I literally squealed with glee first time I heard it.

Missing PPF tour bigger regret than not getting into them in 92.

Would have been nice to have gone to a show I could get to, afford and yet. Ah sliding doors bullshit. The bootlegs were really good of them.

Personally speaking, the previous couple of tours were big arena ones where the band seemed slightly distant and disconnected. The PPF tour saw them returning to medium sized venues and playing with an intensity they hadn't displayed for a few years - I may be wrong but I think it was the first time they brought in an additional guitarist which I suspect gave James a lot more freedom.

And the set lists were brilliant (please one day open with Found that Soul again!) plus the Delays were one of my all time favourite support acts they've had.

From the moment they opened up with Of Walking Abortion at Southampton (albeit with a fuck up) it was the best tour I have seen them on. Ifwhiteamerica, 4st 7lbs, firefight, found that soul, girl who wanted to be god, my little empire, archives of pain…. What a tour.

A Design For Life second song in as well, seemed a shock at the time.

Also the PPF tour had the best version of Archives of Pain with James playing solo until the 2nd verse with full band coming in with thunderous jolt.

Well spotted! But that tracklisting is bringing out my hives the way there doesn't seem any continuity to his tracks. Just think if there's going to be a box of his productions (and why not? Visconti is what they say he is) it would tell the story of how he developed as a producer.
