I'm calling bullshit on the remasters. There's no way they'd scrape together the GT tapes and remaster that without a lot more fanfare.

for what it's worth, it *sounds* remastered to me. I'll know for sure when I have the real cd in front of me, though.

I'd love a PM with er, anything relevant in it. Theoretically of course.

just got my lot at work (the 4 reissues and JFPL). can i just say that these are AWESOME reissues? all the intricate details of the original vinyl pressings have been reproduced. from the original GT gatefold to the original poster that came with the EMG album. these are well worth the price for the packaging alone.

i haven't listened to them yet though. i'll do that when i get home but it really doesn't matter to me if they're remastered or not. the old pressings sound good to me. but, i'm definitely impressed with this first batch of reissues. i cannot wait for the next four.

I got mine today. The live version of Kevin Carter on the 2nd disc of EMG is the version from the Nynex show. That being said I do wonder what the live version of KC on the 2nd disc of TIMT might be.

unless i've missed it, there are no remastering credits, which most likely means that they haven't been remastered.

it's been said before, but why would Sony go through the trouble of remastering the albums and not promote that fact?

The 4 reissues came today and i'm listening to GT now (low volume coz people are in bed) but it does seem a bit louder than previous version , maybe just me..

But the packaging on them all is stunning i just hope there's a promo box for them all

i think it's funny that they included the plain white inner sleeve on the EMG reissue.

i've had a listen to a few songs on GT and GATS. i also ripped the songs and compared the audio waveforms to ones from the original UK CDs. the volume has been boosted by a few decibels but that's about it. on songs like You Love Us, some of the louder parts are brickwalled but i don't hear any distorting. but overall it certainly doesn't sound remastered. still, i'm very happy with these reissues. definitely can't wait until next four albums are reissued.
