But that´s exactly what you said. You said I was talking to *whisper* Real Fans.

Thank you! Glad you had a great time at Brighton also!

Who gives a fuck? It's a gig. It's supposed to be fun. If it's causing you this much stress than maybe get a new hobby?

The trouble is that different people have different ideas about what 'fun' is, and for some that includes acts of violence and intimidation that shouldn't be acceptable anywhere. A bit of pushing and shoving is OK, and expected at the front, but when it gets personal it can get scary pretty quickly.

Yeah, I know, I've been there in the past. I just think the arguing and stressing over a place on the barrier takes all the fun out of the gig. I know some people like to be up there, but to be honest I tend to have more fun at a gig when I stop stressing about things and just enjoy the gig wherever I end up standing. Each to his or her own, though, obviously.

I've said it a few times, but this isn't a charity. This is my hobby and I don't owe any bit of it to anyone else.

After 20 years and around 100 gigs watching this band play, including times where I was the entire front row and there wasn't a barrier...... I am more than happy to stand by the sound desk and appreciate the sound quality in good balance, not get my pint spilled or ribs elbowed etc. Each to their own though!

It´s not necessarily about making a choice. As I said, I´m happy to be in 4th row or wherever but I bet there are plenty of people who´d like a spot on the barrier just for once and who are unable to turn up really early. Last edited by still_unfashionable; 04-06-2009 at 22:02. Reason: quotes |

Of course they would, but I don't owe them it.

Well, that's just bad luck. I'd like to win the lottery, just for once, but I probably won't. Life's a bitch, etc. |

Shame some people got some abuse on the barrier. I'm usually right near the front somewhere, I was on the middle, barrier at the Derby gig a couple of years ago - and cause Derby Assembly Rooms is an intimate venue, I could nearly touch James' mic stand. Ah.. anyway. Now I'm happy to stand back a bit and away from the hustle and bustle, I think I'm getting old.
People at the front shouldn't be getting abuse though. If you're not there, then tough shit, basically. Get there earlier next time.
