It's quite epic. Had it on about 8 times since waking up. The intro and outro bits sound kinda c86 to me. I love the way James sings. Couple of tracks dotted about where I think he sounds kinda cold and disinterested (maybe a deliberate technique, I don't know), but this is really joyous. It just had to be released in late summer/early autumn.

I actually meant Peeled Apples, the bass is far more brutal.

Dude, it couldn't be more pop! It could be the theme to a Japanese cartoon about miniature robots that shit your name in stars...

Can't be bothered to look back but spotted someone asking for a 'non-superficial' reason why it's good. Oh please. i.e. Can someone tell me why this song is good when it clearly isn't because I don't like it! There's always disappointment with new Manics songs, because everyone wants different things. They warned us it was going to be poppy and SHOCK, it's poppy. I like it though. |

Had quite a lot more listens in now. There's definitely something in this song. It still has a bit of a vibe that it's an obvious single choice that's nowhere near the best material on the album (might be because I'm very excited over things like the gospel choirs and Sean's trumpet etc), but I'm definitely digging it. There's just something, I don't know, very jubilant in the final raise and chorus.
I think the vocals are actually the weak point of the song. I love Nicky's voice and his vocal cameos but it seems abrupt and unnecessary here, and James shouting from the bottom of his lungs in the calm verses doesn't really fit. But yeah. I enjoy it.

It was made clear the album would be similar to Everything Must Go & Send Away The Tigers. To be honest I can't really see any of the songs on this album sounding like Yes, Peeled Apples or Archives of Pain.

SATT is actually my favourite manics album, I wish this new single was as good as something from there ;]

Uplifting, fast paced, not too long, fairly instant and has an extravagant string arrangement.
Could be the surprise hit of the year.

Terrible lyrics and a below average song. 4/10
EDIT: I heard Nickys voice. It's now a 3/10. Thanks, Wire.

Autumnsong is cool, but I prefer it to this new single. Not that's bad, just nothing special at all.
