MSP fandom is pretty much exactly the same as football fandom, I find it amusing.

Here's my two cents worth to said argument:

Find another band who went through such personal turmoil, and are still together, with founding members, and releasing new material on a consistent basis.

I'd never class releasing new material, without solely relying on old stuff, which provokes a reaction, still gets talked about and educates as being boring.

Interestingly, people are bored with the same posts and threads over and over again.

Yet no one is bored of the JDB kareoke video which has been posted in two different threads... hmmmmmmmm

So many memorable moments all spread over 20 years, I'm definitely not bored.

I don't see why this thread and its poster is getting grief for saying what they feel.

Truth is, I'm pretty bored of the Manics now as well. JFPL didn't grab me in the way I had hoped SATT was a best, an average album in my opinion and based on what I've heard off of PFAYM, I'm hardly excited by the prospect of it.

But I still consider the manics as the most IMPORTANT band in my life, purely because they were the first band I really came to love as a teenager. And I hope that they pull something special out of the hat in PFAYM, but everything about their music just feels stale nowadays. It feels like they're just revisiting old ground now.

I'd happily relisten to their old material again, and enjoy it, but the new stuff generally doesn't do it for me anymore. And old material being old and familiar, just doesn't EXCITE in the same way new music can.

And why is it odd to be posting such a thread on a Manics forum? It's about the Manics isn't it? Not all fans can obsessively and unconditionally love them the way some of you do, and appreciate all of their musical output.

I still love The Manics hope they keep making music and touring for many years to come.

If you're bored with them though just listen to something else instead of moaning about it.Nobodys forcing you to listen to them.

I'm not bored, I'm just not as excited as I used to be. Those who know me can back me up when I say I have spent months flipping out in anticipation at Arcade Fire announcing a tour, but I took the Manics one totally for granted.

I dunno, I assume it's just cos I'm 25, not 17 anymore. I just don't obsess about anything like I used to.

The Manics fan that uses a Manics forum to complain about how much he doesn't like the Manics is surely an oddity unique to the Manics? It's hard to understand what these people want. The Manics fans pre-1996 that didn't like Everything Must Go I assume have moved on. Now however there's a plethora of Manics fans that hate at least 4 of their last 5 albums and spend a lot of time telling other Manics fans how much they dislike the band. Bizarre.

It seems some people listened to the Manics during certain periods of their life. Now the back catalogue is nostalgia and any new material is boring. Time to let go folks.....

I just don't see the point in moaning about it.We all change. The Manics aren't going to be the same as they were when they first started.Just have to except that and go with it.Or move on to another band,no big deal.

Can people not accept a range of opinion. Can people not accept that others may have different opinions than themselves?

Do people not read an OPs posts in other threads to see the depth and complexity of his feelings towards the band.

This thread is effectively over after Picard stepped in.

*Adopts after closing time growl* "If you dont like 'em, get the fuck out!"

Some Manics fans are a bit dim.
