It's up to #1 now on the HMV chart! Highest it's been on there all week - sure the £6.99 price has helped Good stuff this. It was #4 this morning when I looked.

If the Manics get a #1, their first #1 since 2000 (Masses single) I'll be proper thrilled and happy for the band and get drunk Hopefully it'll get them some more publicity (them getting a #1, not me getting drunk on my own!)
if they get #1 I might open the final bottle of Babycham tomorrow it's a good occasion!
Will we get the results on Sunday? what time we should know the final results and where from? BBC Radio 1? or earlier? I might not get it I dunno if I have a net connection on Sunday

Yes it is but it was released last week so they only chart those last week. The Manics are under the 'new releases'

Tincy bit underhand lowering the price instead of relying on the albums own merits but what the hell A Number 1 albums could open up some doors that have been long closed

Look at this way, the supermarkets will be selling stuff like Kings of Leon and Take That all week for a maximum of £6.99 when those albums come out.

All's fair in love and chart war!

Not been around the last few days. I'm glad to see they're still well in the race for the top spot. I'll go nuts if The dodgy looking boy boy band managers beat them to number one.

I'm sure Nicky will have a way of finding out within like 15 mins of the stores closing A good indication will come on Sunday morning from The Official Chart Company's site but then it's announced on Radio 1 on Sunday afternoon

Not to mention the begging e-mail from the mailing list. 'Oh please buy the album and make the Manics no.1!!' We've already bloody bought it (some people multiple times); you'll have to do better than that!

I don't really know what having a number 1 album will bring for them that they haven't already had at this stage of their career either, but there we are.
