Hi there,
I was just wondering if anybody knew where I could find the interview where James Dean Bradfield/Nicky Wire spoke of being asked to play for the Queen at the Welsh assembly opening and why they wouldn't do it?

Any help would be most appreciated.

JB: It's not a big decision, though, is it? It's a decision anyone with half a brain would make, I think. That story was just breaking as I got on the plane to come over. I was like, 'f*ck me, it must be a slow week for news.' Anyone would realize that, you know, we've been anti-monarchists since the start, YOU know that. [Ed. Anyone with half a brain would just go 'No'. The monarchy just mean nothing to me. They're a black hole, they're a zero.

does anyone know are they pro-devolutionists or not, I was checking some info and Cerys Matthews took part in a Yes For Wales campaign but I saw no sight of the Manics.

If you're going to find Wire more directly involved in politics, it would be combining two of his greatest loves.

No, I’m one of the few – despite Labour and all that’s been going on recently with expenses – who enjoy politics on many different levels. I enjoy it at its grittiest - as a spectator sport! I know people are so disillusioned by politics – they just can’t see that it can do any good – but if you go back to, say, the Northern Ireland peace process it was politics that solved it. It was the same with devolution for Wales: it was still done through voting, democracy and politics. So, whether it’s for good or bad, I kind of still believe in politics more than I do, say, charity, because I still think politics is the one thing that can do good things, like that.

thanks very much probably the most interesting fragment about devolution I've read in ages. and at this moment there are about 20 books around me waiting to be opened and continue writing the essay about devolution in Wales hehe
