Alternatively you could just use a client like Tweetdeck so you don't have to constantly have a browser window open.

Good point, I presumed Wire was referring to a lyric but I see it's actually a song, I'm gonna presume he just got it wrong, it would be weird for him to mention a different song on the same day as this one being played for the first time.

It's basically just a small, separate program you can use to Tweet and follow your tweetlist. The main attraction is that you can customise it to suit your needs for more comfortable browsing: on the Twitter website everything's in one big blob. With Twitter clients, eg Tweetdeck, you can (through using the groups function on the Twitter site) set certain things you follow to show up as their separate categories for easier browsing, like eg having your closest friends in one column, all the official band accounts in one, etc. Or whatever you want. You also get notifications whenever a new tweet appears; how they work is once again up to your customisation (all done through simple menus and tickboxes, so it's not complicated).

Basically it takes a bit to set it all up to suit your taste but after it's done, you'll wonder how on earth you could ever live with just the Twitter site feed.

And you can just download it on your PC, you don't need a gadget phone or anything.

Maybe it was just a feeble attempt to get "further away" trending...
