I agree with what Classic Rock said about "Lifeblood". It is the one MSP album I cannot stand and never play.

Probably been over this a thousand times, but I always think of the latest album by my favourite bands as being their final act if they all trip over their shoelaces and fall into a volcano tomorrow.

To that end, I was upset with Kid A at the time, but since In Rainbows I quite like it. Because if Tom and the boys all trip over their shoelaces and fall into a volcano tomorrow Kid A is not their final act (before the tripping incident, of course).

Similarly, I didn't take too well to Lifeblood at the time because, had the Manics tripped over their shoelaces and fallen into a volcano around 2005, their last act (apart from the tripping incident) would have been a bit lame. But, now that they have very much found their fire again, I can quite enjoy Lifeblood for the pleasant little anomaly that it is.

So if the Manic tripped on their laces now, or got their rented helicopter shot down at the start of WWIII, then what would you think of them leaving PFAYM? I'd still think it wasn't the farewell they could of have had. But it at least sounded like they were wanting to do something different on the next one and wanted to get it all out of their system.

To my ears, at least. All their other albums sound like a progression/regression from the last, but LB sticks out like a sore thumb (that's not necessarily an insult) as something from another universe. It just feels very different. To me.
