One where they are rapidly losing hardcore fans, i expect. lol. Nevermind, I'm sure the mass communication will bring in casuals....oh.

Amazon are sometimes wonky with their total disc numbering, but I wonder if the four more than expected extra discs are for Suicide Alley, You Love Us (Heavenly), Faster/P.C.P., and Today is the Day - probably not, though.

I'll wait for more details on the boxset and expect the initial price to come down before being disgusted.

Yeah, hopefully it will drop...I'm still going on the basis if Bruce Springsteen can do a boxset of everything for a fraction of that, then it's a rip off.

no one is going to buy that box set. knock £100 off that and i'll consider it but £182 is completely ridiculous

For that price it would need to be a severely limited release, serious high quality artwork, top quality packaging, and loads of extra bits and bobs.

It'll prob be Cds with a shit T-shirt in a shoebox.

Go fuck yourselves.

That Amazon price is insane, hope it's not an Amazon exclusive.

I wouldn't be surprised if Amazon have accidentally added around £100 on to the price of a boxset comprised of just discs. The other day, I was in the process of ordering a 32GB microSD card from them, and their own price for it dropped twice in around 1 hour.

If it's around £100 and upwards, it's really got to be including every associated b-side on each disc, and ideally some never before released demos for each main song too.

Are Sony actually fucking deluded? Seriously, I love the guys, but I don't know any fan who would actually spend that on something of theirs anymore, unless its a festival or something...

Do we even know the details of this 42-disc monstrosity yet? Are they reproductions of the original singles (with b-sides) or what? Because unless the b-sides are included, it's pointless, I'd say... plus, uh, most of the hardcore collectors would already have the singles anyway so I'm not really sure who they're appealing to with this.

The same bunch of people who inexplicably just buy everything. They say they're collectors and that they enjoy it but they're dead inside... they're dead.

Wow. Over £180 is mental. I wouldn't pay that for any release, no matter how good or limited it was. Put it to about £80 and maybe, just maybe. I mean, how much is the shitty POstcards shoebox going for these days? That was a load of rubbish though. I'll just get a standard 2 disc version of the album I think, I can't afford anything else.

It's my birthday in October, but I think if I ask either of my parents for the box set then they'll probably call me insane.

Nah, just the standard edition and the Nicky photo book'll do me, haha.

Well, look at all the people on this site alone who shelled out full price for the PFAYM "shoe box" of nothing. The record company wouldn't waste money producing these editions if they didn't think they could sell them.

Anyway, unlike that PFAYM box set, I'm not so sure this set isn't worth that kind of money especially if it includes the majority of all their singles (I'm sure b-sides factor in as well). That's a 20+ year retrospective rather than a book, tape and t-shirt going for close to $200 CAN. Actually, that price tag sounds quite reasonable and in line with the cost of career spanning box sets from other artists. That is assuming the box set does include a great deal of material from their catalogue remastered, nicely packaged discs, artwork/booklet(s) and some additional items like a DVD, etc. Hell, I may even buy this one, but only after I find out more details as to what it includes. I couldn't care less about a GH disc containing a few singles, but a career spanning retrospective of a band I've loved since I was 15 would be a bit of a must I should think.

I don't think it is that reasonable really...I'm sure you can get other boxsets for a lot less...someone posted an example of Bruce Springsteen which was around 50 which had a lot more than that. The point about being a must is definitely valid, but that's why it's even worse when they make fans fork out over 180 quid. The band in recent years seem to have been all about wanting new fans and not caring about their hardcore. Whether it was theirs or sony's decision, is kinda irrelevant to me - it's their name on the product. I am sure Sony were heartened by the fact that so many people bought the boxset (which was a rip off in itself when people were told it was only going to be available at the full price)...but that is not in my mind justification...when you have a fanbase you know will buy anything, that's not an excuse to jack the prices up as high as possible.
