18 is about right for a headline festival set.

I thought they had done RFD on the KYE tour. Not so sure now!

Minor gripe, wish they'd played Ready For Drowning in Newport! Hope fest no 6 was good for all that went though

They definitely played full band RFD in 2001, I vividly recall a German festival featuring fat James... when they were still big (no pun intended).

Odd they didn't play 30 Year War at Newport as it's clearly one of the best new songs.

Apparently the Newport setlist had that or another newbie and they picked the other one!

Already mentioned in the Newport thread but Nicky put it to a crowd vote thus "We're not sure what to play next - we have a new song called 30 Year or you can hear me singing very badly". Nicky obviously won

That was brilliant. Didn't get back home till half 2 after driving back but well worth it. Only got to see Chic and Manics but what an evening. Chic are the best thing to have ever been on before the Manics, truly amazing. Even the most miserable of Manics fans turning up to see THB stuff must've found something great about them! Manics themselves put on one of the best festival appearances i've seen them do, good setlist with the first airing of Ready for Drowning i've witnessed (please don't drop it!). New songs sounded strong, highlight being Hawley coming on for Rewind the Film. James was really going for it, just as much as always despite now being mid-40s and looking like it too. Crowd were decent but mellow, worryingly alot of kids down the front where at any other festival a crush would've been inevitable and very dangerous. Shame about the rain, would've been a really nice place to have spent the weekend otherwise.

- Sullen Welsh Heart is stunning live, with James and Naysmith on their own. Much better without the extra vocals.
- Nicky was on top talkative form, very amusing
- The sound was exceptionally good for a festival
- Please please do not drop Ready for Drowning. Really works well live, especially against the new material.
