I'd love to see it, but considering it was trying to capture a time that has now long passed it does beg the question ~ how relevant is it now?

Probably best to have it as a free streamed video or an added bonus now.

Debatable, but it's a insightful documentary about the band's whole career, based around that time - people still make documentaries about long-gone bands, so I think it's going to remain relevant. Perhaps the question is more is there still the audience?

Best for the fans, maybe, but not for the people who sunk so much time and effort into the film, and they would still need the rights.

Not really comparable... long-gone bands have finished releasing stuff so it's easy to put together a retrospective, whereas if this overview of "their whole career" were released now it would exclude a large and significant portion of their output.

It does cover their whole career, but it was them considering it at that exact point in time. They've moved into totally new areas for them; JFPL, the O2 Arena Gig, a two year hiatus (sort of), a largely acoustic album rapidly followed by a kraut/post-punk (probably won't be. Almost every album has been nothing like how they described it prior release) album coming shortly after.

I don't see how you can sell a moment of time, that wasn't the most poignant to start with, that has long passed. Especially in a time of new/new/new instant gratification. I don't say this with any joy because I would love to see it.

It's hard to explain, but it's not meant to be a documentary about that one point in time, and it's not just meant to appeal to manics fans. It uses that tour to tell a story which covers their whole career, it's not just a discography documentary. So whilst I agree, it's not going to be as relevant as it might have been at the time, I think it would still appeal to a range of audiences, if they could be persuaded to go and see it. I know a lot of non-manics fans appreciated it at the American screening.

i'm not sure it would appeal to non-manics fans. If you don't like their music why would you want to watch a documentary on them? You don't have to be a die-hard fan to be interested tho

I'm sure plenty of people who were never fans of their music watched Dig! and The Devil in Daniel Johnston. I'm equally certain that Walk the Line didn't just attract Johnny Cash fans. I agree conpletely with Takk so cannot be bothered to reiterate the points he/she makes so well.

I would'nt watch a documentary on a band I never listened to. I'd watch a film about someone from the past as thats different all together. I mean if they made in the film in the future about Richey and his life non Manic fan's would go and see it but not necessary a documentary about him himself.
