Well, it seems like James to me. it's hard to say because SOMEONE recorded loud guitars there but relaxed James seems to be more likely than Sean. Although I'm not sure.

Anyway a sample uploaded to Sound and Vision

lol, yeah, it's harder to make out than some of the others. I'm not sure either.

It's the 'I re-imagine the steps you took' line that especially doesn't sound like James to me. But it could just be the mix playing tricks on my ears.

Based on these clips and the older one from "Solitude Sometimes Is", I think that Sean could easily handle lead vocals on a song. A shame that he probably never will. He's certainly got a much better voice than The Wire but then so have I probably.

Well, he might have his reasons. Maybe he's got difficulties in playing and singing at the same time, or maybe he just prefers the drums and trumpets over the mic...

Yes, it sounds very cold. But BVOCs are usually mixed with reduced high frequencies, so... But I'm really not sure, it sounds Sean-esque. It would be great to ask the guys!

Yes, everyone has a better voice than Wire, but obviously Sean's got a smaller ego and it's good for him
I rememeber once he said he could also play guitar but he never records it because James can record guitars way quicker and better. And it's the same with the vocals I suppose and it's a very good attitude IMHO

Which song particulary do you mean?
Well, for a start, he's credited as the only band member doing backing vocals on Generation Terrorists. Though Richey is credited as doing rhythm guitar on GT...

Born To End has him on it, for example. I think Roses In The Hospital has him on it too (if you listen closely to the left channel during the "roses in the hospital" bits during the verse you can hear Nicky!). Then again, it could be my fevered imagination telling me that it's Sean, when it's not.

he just doesn't want to. He doesn't need to sing and play at the same time in a studio. He's happy being invisible. Shame as he has a good voice from what i've heard

Roses is Nicky and I believed it as Nicky and Richey originally (Richey is credited for BVOC too on GATS I think), but I can only hear Richey.

Good point with GT booklet, but on the other hand - Nat West, ME, SB, that's pure James doing BVOC.

I'm checking Born to End now, but to me it sounds like triple James again.

Yes, this I know. But that's no proof he did it on the album. I can only hear James there.
The gig was in Bristol, if I rememeber correctly - does anyone have a recording? would be great to hear that. I don't have it.

I wasnt sayimg that it was proof he did it on the album. I was simply commenting that he did it live once. I actually said in an earlier post that to me the album version sounded like James.

oh yes I got it, apologies if it sounded like I was against you, no I was not, that was simply a resume of what we (don't) know.

Anyway if you find some song with possibility of Sean's BVOCs, please let me know
