What's irritating is they're releasing this when there is probably some much more interesting stuff from around the TIMTTMY era nobody has heard before. Where the hell is the deluxe version of that?! Doesn't even need to be an anniversary, just release it!

I was going to buy it no matter what, and I've ordered it already, but as cool as I think it is, I do feel equally disappointed.

I'm glad the Maida Vale tracks are part of it though, first time I've been present at an officially released live recording (been at a few that were on the radio and / or on bootlegs, but never any of the gigs on proper releases). So that's nice. And the book, and the vinyl. But...

- Lack of any visual media (e.g. the videos, the live performances on television, interviews, documentary). I know the 10th had a good amount, but none of it is here. Zero. And I'm sure there's footage from the time not yet released. What about a clip of it when Newsnight covered it? etc.

- Lack of gimmicky things that people like me are suckers for. Just those extra physical items that make these type of sets a lot of fun, like the lanyard that was in the excellent Generation Terrorists box set (never been a big fan of that album, but I still love everything about that release). So, something like a poster version, or even a nice print, of the handwritten lyrics for Faster as they appeared in the NME advert, possibly MSP dog-tags like those from the tour).

-Demos? Neither of the existing ones are here. What about one for say, Judge Yr'self?

-No need for all the b-sides that deal with GATS songs.

-Maybe the planned YES single on 7''?

I dunno. I was hoping this would feel complete, but it feels more like a sideways step from the 10th set.

Not sure if anyone else noticed, but the Vinyl is a remix by JDB and some other bloke. So that is something new, to an extent.

Anyone with an iota of sense won't bother either.

As for signed copies, remember when a signed item was something WOW? CDs the band don't sign are probably going to be the collectors items of the future.

I hope the lack of thought and the piss poor content that's gone into this "box set" is a reflection on how fucked off the band are with anniversary releases. That'd give me back a little bit of much lacking respect for them.

A lot of money for some pretty frayed rope.

I seriously don't think this needed to happen. A vinyl re-release for collectors, why not... but who needs the CDs, again?

Doubt it, they seem to be doing this because they want to.

I don't know. It looks really cynical to me that the 10th and 20th have different bonus content basically forcing people to buy both if they want all the holy bible content. We know there is some more demo's out there, just eve four of five of those might have convinced me to buy it. Faster acoustic is on there for flip sakes. Surely there must be some other soundboard recordings in the archives somewhere.

I presumed that this edition would contain everything available and draw a line under the period once and for all. Instead we get an edition that's missing half of the last edition. It just looks half hearted in the extreme.

FWIW, if it ends up that the THB vinyl is only available via the boxset with no option to buy copies individually I would be happy to purchase copies from boxset buyers who have no use for the vinyl, I'm just saying because I've been waiting years for that damn thing to come out haha

I asked for it for Christmas, but it's not something I feel like I need to own. When read about it, I felt like I should be much more excited about it, but... just wasn't.

And I really like the idea of an official release of the Astoria gig, even if it's incomplete. I'd want it a lot more if it was the full gig, of course, but that's probably what I'm most interested in out of the set. I don't have it and I like trying to have an official physical release of everything.
And the B sides CD. Although it looks like about half of it I either don't think I'll want to listen to more than once or already have. The other half brings it up to worth owning, for me.
I really like vinyl although I don't listen to it often. And I'm sure I'll regret not at least seriously thinking about getting this, if this is the only way to get the vinyl. (And of course people on ebay and amazon will be selling it for much, much more once the "limited" quantity is sold.)
The book I like, but I'm not sure how much I'd be willing to pay for it if it was sold on its own.
But I really don't need two more CD copies of THB.

So the vinyl and two of the four CDs I want, the other two and the book are pretty much obligatory extra collectors items, in my mind. Which isn't bad, I guess, in comparison... but I'm still not all that excited. Not champing at the bit for it.

I feel a lot better about not getting that excited about it after reading this thread, though!

I have absolutely no reason to buy this, (I can't afford it, anyway). I already have the original release, the 10th anniversary edition, and all the singles, so all the b-sides. I also have the Astoria show, both the BBC version (including "Motown Junk", missing in this box set), and the more complete audience recording (both available on my site). I don't need any more copies of any of it, remixed or not.

I agree, but it seems unlikely they were forced to put this out if they didn't want to.

I'd have liked a DVD of the upcoming live shows.

But as it's finally a non picture disc vinyl release they had me.

Better than the Postcards shoebox
