Huh, the Stone Roses lyrics remind me of Oasis.

I could neatly sum up my interest in football on the back of a stamp but this is alright actually. It's very manics. A rousing, memorable chorus. I like the refs to can't take my eyes off you and errr... archives of pain(?). I was dreading it though so my expectations were sufficiently low.

and high and very far away he saw the spiral arms of military systems, forever beyond his reach.
And somewhere he was laughing, in a white-painted loft, distant fingers caressing the deck, tears of release streaking his face.

Video available in Canada. Catchy song. I had no expectations. Instantly hummable, great chorus. Might do well in the UK charts.

The chorus is catchy for sure and, while knowing nothing about football, I can see a crowd picking up on it and belting it out. I like the fact they actually sang "can't take my eyes off you" as well as referencing the tune!

Gave the song another listen, it's so frustrating. Musically and vocally it's better than anything they've done in years.

It's like a Postcards off cut.

Just listening again gives me a greater appreciation for the song.

The opening riff is just so 80s BBC Sport.

The "Let's not forget Gary Speed" line gets me every time.

And "that 85 night was so tragic" is a very poignant nod to Jock Stein, one of the greats of British football, who died after Wales played Scotland in Ninian Park in 1985.

Imagine 40,000 singing the chorus.

The name chant is so "Archives of Pain".

And the last line a subliminal EU message?

More clever a tune than people giving it credit for.

I think it's more passionate than that. I also quite like Postcards. So there we go.

It's a grower! And now I know a lot more about Welsh football history than before I first heard it. MASS COMMUNICATION. Well done, Nicky!

Put Bale in the chorus... doesn't turn up for the video! Nothing though beats Baddiel and Skinner putting a Gazza lyric in Three Lions 98 and then Hoddle not picking him!

The Stone Roses are No.1 on iTunes, this is 55.

That's some shoddy defending.

Manics 1 - Stone Roses 2

No Top 40 for you, Nicky. That's relegation form. He's got to be sick as a parrot.
