So They HAVE Been Holding Out On Us!

https://www.nme.com/news/music/manic...record-2624306

One new song they've recorded is called "Orwellian". Mainly the article has more details about James's album.
But check the last paragraph!
Nicky's completed his second solo album and is sitting on it!
He's holding out on us! Oh! Heartbreak and outrage!

No idea when we'll here the new stuff but wanted to make it a separate thread.

all great news, always enjoyed parts of patrick jones poetry, really enjoyed james solo album. Nicks solo album is up there as one of my favourite albums, it's got that ramshackle diy meets manics glitter quality to it. A band album as well coming soon, we're lucky as fans with their output. I wouldn't mind a few james or nicky gigs

Glad to hear they're working on a new album. Shame we have to wait until next summer though Pleased about a new James solo album; hope he makes another cool video like he did for That's No Way To Tell A Lie! If Nicky makes another solo album, well, I'll buy it as I think there's some good work on his first solo record so be interesting to hear and tie us over until next summer.

Amazing news! They're so productive, I feel really happy XD

Sad to hear that Wire lost his parents.

... I still haven't heard his first one.

Is "I Killed The Zeitgeist" worth a listen?

Ooh nice.

Zeitgeist is most certainly worth a listen, i like the great western just fine but zeitgeist is the better album.

And somewhere he was laughing, in a white-painted loft, distant fingers caressing the deck, tears of release streaking his face.

Lovely news!
Hope they'll come back to Japan for the new album next, or next-next year. ♡

So maybe in the future Nicky will do some more cleaning up and stumble across a box of Lifeblood demos? Or even better KYE demos and other gems. They really should just complete the entire catalogue of work now.

Asked about the sound of their new material, Wire revealed: “It’s very broad – it feels like an expansive record. ‘Resistance Is Futile’ certainly felt more tight and ‘pop’ in a Manics sense. Everything was really melodic and concise. This album just feels broader. It’s got a wider landscape, sonically. It’s early days, but ‘Orwellian’ feels like the one track to guide us. I wouldn’t call it a directly political song, but it has that element of the times that we live in.”

He added: “Lyrically, I’m just working things out. Since losing both my parents, I’ve been kind of overwhelmed at that situation. There’s a deep-rooted sadness and melancholia that overhangs everything.”
