What a bizarre reaction. That's not just one of your best b-sides, James, it's one of your best songs! Why you laugh and upset me?

Please, he prayed, now - A gray disk, the colour of Chiba sky. Now - Disk beginning to rotate, faster, becoming a sphere of paler gray. Expanding - And flowed, flowered for him, fluid neon origami trick, the unfolding of his distanceless home, his country, transparent 3D chessboard extending to infinity. Inner eye opening to the stepped scarlet pyramid of the Eastern Seaboard Fission Authority burning beyond the green cubes of Mitsubishi Bank of America, and high and very far away he saw the spiral arms of military systems, forever beyond his reach. And somewhere he was laughing, in a white-painted loft, distant fingers caressing the deck, tears of release streaking his face. |

At least he didn't cry. I'd imagine it's quite a rough song to play from an emotional standpoint.

I think Sepia was just a word he probably hadn't heard since 1996, so it was laughing in a sort of "things I forgot I knew about" sort of way

There will be, they'll be the songs off of the new album though, and if you're lucky 'Yes' seing as they've rehearsed it. For any deep cuts I'd say lower your expectations and keep your fingers crossed for a nice surprise.
They didn't even play Valley Boy or Sepia live during the lipstick traces in 2003 when they had a much bigger fanbase, nice as it would be I doubt they'll trot them out now. |

I'm guessing Yes, Sleepflower, something from JFPL. These are things Nicky mentioned. With the 30 year anniversary, you might see some more "Richey" lyrics - maybe Small Black Flowers, maybe Elvis Impersonator, maybe acoustic Donkeys?
Also 10 years since Futurology, so maybe something a bit different than WBTTB or EGDM? Lucky to get 4 songs off the new album I think. Wayne's wife seems to be joining them on the tour but I am sick of YLA and LBN to be honest in the setlists. |

Suspect nothing off JFPL but my guess would be Faster, Die in the Summertime or Yes from THB. Sleep flower is not one I would look forward to, take away the riff, it's just plodding and turgid. Would love them to bring back something fun from the second half of GT like Crucifix Kiss or Methadone Pretty.

It was either a TUVL or EiE review that said James could widdley-wee with the best of them. It was meant in a critical way. But I wouldn't mind some more of it.
Maybe the textbook poll winner is yet to be played? EDIT: That's it! Weird or widdley-wee! |
