I've stopped listening to it completely. There are many great things about about it - fantastic arrangements, the most consistent lyrics since Lifeblood - but there is so much else that grates on me, most of which I've already dwelt on too much.
Somehow the album seems torn between trying to explore sincere, raw emotion in an adequate way - and wanting to be Radio 2 background jingles. Sometimes these two elements seem to collide in one song, Sullen Welsh Heart comes to mind. I've been on such a rollercoaster ride regarding my Manics fandom ever since I heard RTF (song) for the first time that the album feels contaminated to me. I doubt I'll ever be able to listen to it again with enjoyment, I may not listen to it at all again. I may not listen to anything the Manics release from now on. /dramaqueen /ex-fan in denial
