Funny Manics criticism.

Not sure if you've all witnessed what the guys at Electrical Audio had to say about the Manics eight years ago, but if you haven't, here you go. These made me laugh:

These guys are absolute twats. Phoneys of the worst kind, terrible music, and with Holy Bible merciless dead guy hype on a record that sounds like livejournal set to Blink-182. Political grandstanding combined with "we want to earn lots of money so we never work again" selfishness demands a punch in the nose. Claiming to be dirt poor when youse ain't, also deserves a slap in the chops.

Claiming hometown hero status when you do nothing in your hometown but buy property also deserves a slap. Manic Street Preachers, you're a bunch of rich twats with records that sound like Smash Mouth covering Queen, or Blink-182 covering Rush.

my hatred of this band causes me to write the sort of iconoclastic cocksuckery that they made their name on in the NME.

I will not buy the argument that somehow this was good lyric writing. The choruses alone:

They've never got past the sixth form. Each song was like they'd read another article in the Guardian's G2 about counter-culture, and written a song about it. The Kevin Carter one pissed me off the most. It was called, 'Kevin Carter', because it was about Kevin Carter, who was a photographer, which they alluded to with the lyric "click click click click click, click your life away - Kevin Carter", and by filling the video with images of cameras. That's their level all through their career, filling their songs with the kind of imagery that uses a camera to represent a photographer -

- all of which would be fine if they didn't act like such fucking geniuses.
