Listen to the selfish ones, they are the voice of accomplishment
The best five seconds on the album
great line brilliantly portrayed by James and Sean (let's not forget little Sean has a lot to do with the music too) |

I would occur that would be one of them. Would also say some of the last few seconds music to facing Page: Top Left are beautiful (best purely music bit) and the legendary chorus of Shards and Shard, the andogony fails, Odalisque By Ingres, Extra Bones For Sale, however long that takes.

That line is so beautiful and brilliantly done.

I think my favourite moment lyrically is one which was in the lyrics but not on the album "I wanted to hate, but my tears love" [that's so me, dammit]

Hard to pick a favourite bit, but that's definitely Top 3!

Reminds me a lot of the Smiths line "and people who are uglier than you and I, they take what they need and just leave"... a rueful lament that all you need to get what you want is to be selfish and assertive, and qualities like kindness and sensitivity don't really help you achieve what you want.

Doors Closing Slowly always feels like the most lyrically complete song on JFPL, to me at any rate.

I can see the merit of the song both musically and lyrically, but it's my least favourite on JFPL, and to be honest I find that line pretty clunky.
But then I don't mind S.Y.M.M. lyrically, so take no notice, enjoy.

They kind of ruined those two songs for me personally, by using the lyrics for GSTM...i just don't like them very much as a result, because I keep expecting to be singing the earlier song.

Doors Closing Slowly is my least fave on JFPL but I feel it has the best lyrics.
Go figure (All is Vanity is the best song overall)
