In a perfect world they'd be nominated for both. But realistically, they just aren't Brit material anymore.

Maybe they'll get Outstanding Contribution in a few years time, otherwise I can't see them getting nominated again. The Brits is more for the Radio 1 audience and to be honest - controversial statement coming up - it ought to stay that way.

The Brits give out awards for commercial success more often than not!

It's unlikely but who cares, the Brits are rubbish. It would possibly gain them some new fans but it's unlikely and they'd never actually win.

Maybe the next album will bring them back to the Brits?
If not "Lifetime Achievement" but a good number of band will win it before them and cheapen further the status of their award.

"Congrats Manic Street Preachers! You have won the Lifetime award which we gave to 'The Shitty Finger Fuckers' last year!"

Receiving that award would set Nicky's OCD off like never before!

Nah, can't see it happening to be honest. And as Aaron says it might be better if they don't!

from BBC news:

"The 10 best-selling albums to have won the best album prize in previous years will be in the running to be named the Brits Album of 30 Years, with the winner picked by listeners to BBC Radio 2."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8465491.stm

Does EMG and/or TIMT qualify?

Not unless they make an album full of Your Love Alone Is Not Enough type tracks. And I for one do not want that to be the case

The Brits along with all mainstream award gigs are a joke anyway.

Interesting to find out, will have to look at all the othe albums for the last 30 years and see what they sold. I wouldnt have thought they would have been in the top 10, was it Duffy who won it last year?

A Flo and Dizzee collaboration sounds epic. The BBC sounds outraged that Susan Boyle is looking likely to be snubbed.
