Radio 2 "GREATEST Guitar Riff Motorcycle Emptiness" Vote Rig Attempt Thread

And now we see one of the perks the band got for doing the R2 show last year!

As part of the Guitar Season of programmes on Radio 2, we're asking you to vote for what you consider to be the Greatest Guitar Riff Ever?

The vote is open from midday on Monday 14 July and closes at 5pm on Friday 25 July 2014.

Quote:
Tune in to Radio 2 on Monday 25 August to hear the results!

A panel of guitar music experts, made up of Radio 2 presenters, music critics and record producers were selected to pick the 100 guitar riffs, they are: Janice Long – Radio 2 Presenter, Bob Harris – Radio 2 Presenter, Richard Allison - Radio 2 Presenter, Gideon Coe – 6 Music Presenter, Steve Levine – Music Producer, Paul Sexton – Music journalist and broadcaster, Sunday Times, Radio 2, Sian Llewellyn – Editor, Classic Rock Magazine.

For the purpose of this vote a guitar riff has been defined as 'the main hook of a song and must be played principally by a guitar. It often begins the song, but is repeated throughout it, giving the song its distinctive voice.'
I've checked http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/arti...tar-riffs-vote and you can only vote for "Motorcycle Emptiness".
So anyone want to have a stab at getting it into the top twenty of the riffs?

Thanks!

And if it's going to be a roundish shape connected to transport that wins the poll, then I hope two wheels triumphs over an indiscriminate number of wheels.

Not in the UK, so no voting for me. But I would like to vote for more than one. Besides the Manics, Clash and Cure's suggested riffs are vote worthy too.

In all fairness, I do think Motorcycle Emptiness would have always been a part of that list, not just because they played a gig for Radio 2 last year! I have friends who don't really like the Manics at all, but love that riff.

I can't even remember how it goes, which isn't a great sign. Especially poor when you consider they have riffs like Times Like These and All My Life.

Anyways, I can't get onto that website in work, so will vote later...

I quite like Wheels...

Isn't the riff on No Surprises played on a glockenspiel rather than a guitar?

I was meaning to vote on this but kept forgetting, and then I missed the deadline.

But Autumnsong wasn't on it anyway, so nothing ventured, nothing gained

Maybe the vote rigging worked haha or maybe the British public just have amazing musical taste!

Motorcycle Emptiness is top 20 at the very least!

Can see the list of our competitors here http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/m...iffs-Ever.html

or the BBC blog as it happens...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04f7xn6/live

Top 30 being counted down by Zoe Ball from 2pm so anytime from 3pm onwards!

Anyone for predictions? I'll go for No 14
