New Britpop CD to include unreleased Manics track
OK the thread title is a tad misleading but the BBC are releasing previously unreleased performances of a number of bands from the Britpop era. I found this a bit strange as I wouldn't really class the Manics of being part of that 'scene'. Any how, we have a new performance of She Is Suffering to look forward to:

Thanks for posting, but I suspect it'll be the version that's already been out there, that's on The Holy Bible 10th Anniversary set. But I could be wrong, it might be a newer one.

Simply titled Britpop at the BBC, the release is composed of archival performances from BBC Radio 1's program "The Evening Session."

Ah, that version is out there somewhere already, same session as Yes and Pennyroyal Tea (and another I think).

Not to my knowledge. I remember getting a data CDR through This Is Yesterday or one of those '90s fan sites that had that and loads of live stuff and scans on it.

The full tracklist looks a bit more Britpoppy.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Britpop-At-T...FZKJYM0RSTYB1T Except they're using that 3:31 edit of Motorcycle Emptiness that's starting to turn up on lots of compilations. Even the few MSP songs that don't have that cursed verse/chorus/verse/chorus/solo/chorus are now being inflicted with this terminal disease. Common People also gets chopped down to 4 minutes but Gene's song gets over 5. What kind of a world are we living in? |

Quote:
oasis blur manics suede pulp stereophonics (first 2 albums which is all anyone really cases about) lyrically and stylistically all different - while some share similar traits (manics and suedes love of glamour) they are still very different beasts sonically and lyrically the only thing most brit pop bands share in common are they are british, play guitars and got in the charts in that one period mid-lateish 90s (what, 94 - 98 was they heyday) |

Wannadies are on there too. I think someone at the BBC needs an atlas for Christmas.

Nice to see Paul Wellar and The La's on there but neither were strictly Britpop.
Everyone's favourite BBC 6 presenter is on the front of the cd though! The mark of quality. Wasn't Britpop just bands who had been going since the early 90s trying to be more like Oasis? |
