Why tell the press varying accounts? Maybe because, as I've already said, they're misremembering things. It happens. They were all very emotionally vulnerable in the wake of Richey's disappearance. I doubt they remember who they said what to, especially now after 20 years.

Or maybe the written press at least edit answers so that they give a different impression. Not unheard of. I'm sure no one deliberately lied.

Exactly. Nobody in or related to the band would have any reason whatsoever to lie about something like this.

I'm really happy with the documentary, wow extraodinary story. Question: must I still see the EMG20 docu/dvd or is that one not really relevant anymore?

Even in 1990's, not long after Richey's disappearance that was the official version of events - sanctioned by themselves in Simon Price's book.

Simon Price's book was not sanctioned by the band as such, Nicky started reading it but found it too upsetting to continue. He gave it back saying something like 'there's loads of errors, but it's your truth'... I'm sure that's even in the introduction to the book.

I'm pretty sure the 'too upsetting' thing was an excuse and there were just too many errors to correct. I swear I read this a few years after release!
