It was all me, I'm afraid. It's not bad, is it? I can say that now, with 17 years hindsight, and not sound arrogant, I think. I hope. From 1991 to 1993, I just listened to nothing but the Manics, and after a while, I started thinking and talking like them. I was a walking early record sleeve, I guess. I learned to think in soundbites. I don't think I could write like that now, which is a shame. But certainly at the time, I think I was proof that the girls that hung around shyly at stage doors to talk to them weren't JUST there because they were pretty. We really did love them for their minds, however much of a cliche that may sound. What they said always mattered far more to me than what they looked like. And I was an eager pupil. I learned by copying. And I'm still really proud of that

it's a shame the band or richey's family won't co-operate on a book about richey..he's definitely a worthy topic. I'd rather see a well written biography on the shelves to challenge the idea that he was just *that nutter that killed himself*

I think it's a novel idea. Could really turn over a new page in the Richey story. The author's got real spine to try and pull it off. I for one never thought this would be on the books. I would have thought it's a bit soon considering how recent the last Richey book came out, then again, it's all been a blurb to me.

Oh, Christ. This is gonna be a car crash of a read. Hope they make a new ending other than 'jumps off bridge and goes "Oh dear, I shouldn't have done that."' That would be really pointless.

I agree with lampandbook's main point (yep I got me hands on a proof) - it's told in the voice of Richey cept it's not. It's quite an easy read rehash of all the biogs bar the more comprehensive Everything. He refers to everyone in the band and his family by their name - probably because there's been no artistic licence it's just a retell but with the central character flat and absent - not in the mysterious way the real man actually is just never fleshed out on the page

But he has ~voices~ in his head, doesn't he?

The actual voices in Richey's head - now that would be an interesting read.

Could you elaborate a bit more as to why?
