After the battering this item received here, since details (slowly) emerged about it, frankly I'm surprised anyone was silly enough to fork out for it. All the same, It sucks some of you got burned for having some faith.

Well, some people collect everything the band releases...you might accept that you will get ripped off on quality, but that doesn't mean you expect it to arrive damaged.

I can't believe it has been so shoddily put together, sent and packaged. I also think every person who has had a shit product should email the band personally and see if anything can be done. I know they can't be 100% involved in these things BUT Nicky always says he loved the whole preparation and art work role for the band and that image is key. So take him at his word and write to him directly.

This isn't a cheap item so you should stick at trying to get a new, perfect product and an appology.
and where would I write to?

Got my box yesterday. The lid at the corner is torn but I've already contacted Sony for a replacement. Otherwise, everything else is fine. Certainly not worth the money I paid but whatever.

OK, I was curious as to whether or not the bsides had actually been remastered so I whacked the original (top) A Vision of Dead Desire and the boxset (bottom) version into Audacity.

Seems to be so.

Also worth noting - the Slash n Burn version of Motown Junk doesn't contain the glitch at the beginning.

Looks like they've just lifted the volume to matched the newly tweaked levels of the main tracks.

I did wonder that as the waveforms were virtually identical aside from the width but that's fine with me. Bands rarely fully remaster bsides anyway unless they're really old or poorly recorded.

Register at Popmarket and for the next 23 hours they're selling off this box for £97.16 delivered, should it float your boat despite all of the negative reviews:

http://www.popmarket.com/details/276...re_id=27648856

They do daily deals of varying quality. This is today's.

I'd pay £9.71 for it but not a penny more.

I don't really get it either...if wire is such a collector and loves listing things, why didn't he take a hand and make this something worth the price?
Bit harsh, that. A band that doesn't care very much about their fans wouldn't do a US/Canada tour at a loss. They wouldn't hang around outside after their gigs to meet their fans, they wouldn't do signings, intimate gigs, autographed pre-orders, give away EPs or write songs about their fans (however badly received, it's a nice gesture).

Yeah by the sounds of it it's been a bit of a fuck up but I'll probably buy it when I can afford it anyway. I know it's not worth it, but I'm gonna buy it anyway. Yeah, the band should have the final say on releases cos like this, it does hit their reputation, but I'm not sure how often they do. Curious to hear if anyone's had the chance to ask the band directly about it. I wouldn't, anyway.
