Well I wasn't at their gigs in the 90's (too busy being a child) so I wouldn't know, but I'm just saying I can understand why someone would still be put off standing. Even just the one dickhead can be a massively off putting experience. I certainly didn't appreciate the crazy bitch at the Cardiff Castle gig trying to pull me off the barrier and pulling me back by the hair.

Shug got her foot stamped on at the Cardiff Castle gig as well. Yep, unfortunately a great gig can be spoiled by idiots who can't just get on with enjoying the music like the rest of us!

Lucky you for being so young! My sympathies re. Cardiff... someone tried to pull me out of his way at a gig recently but it was just one dickhead and I could handle it. But yes it does ruin things having someone all over your back the whole show. I came away with bruised toes too.

I understand the attraction of seating, it's just seats tends to cost more and you have to keep relatively still during the show.

I've just noticed the RAH Twitter account replied to someone saying there are 99 standing places for these gigs No wonder they sold out so fast! Feel very lucky to have got them now.

Going to the UK for two weekends in may already, sadly can't justify a third one! Wish they were a little closer to the swansea gig in time.

I find it hard to believe it's not a typo. Why on earth that few? Unless they plan on having an entire orchestra taking up most of the arena

There's no way it's only 99. Unless they mean gallery standing which is quite a small area.

The only other thing I can think is perhaps they haven't yet decided the full capacity based on the stage set-up, so they may release more tickets at a later date? I know they do this with theatre tickets a lot (it's quite frustrating when you buy what you think are front row seats only to turn up to the performance to see they've added 2-3 more rows in front of you) and then release more once the layout has been confirmed. But that's just me completely guessing.

Yes, quite a few events seem to release tickets close to the date of the show once they know the exact stage set-up.

According to the RAH website there are 1,350 standing tickets for the Proms: http://www.royalalberthall.com/ticke.../day-promming/ I expect a similar number for the EMG shows. It certainly wasn't 99 on the original EMG tour! If you look at the seating plan for the RAH you'll see there is very limited space for gallery standing, so the only feasbile explanation for that tweet is it is referring to that space.

I checked my booking summary and it says "Arena (standing) seats 748, 749" which is a number closer to what i'd expect!

Think they either missed off a digit in their answer or meaning the gallery capacity

My only experience of a rock gig at the RAH was Damon Albarn last year. The floor was officially all seated, but that didn't make a blind bit of difference- the first few rows went up to the barrier & Damon told off the security for stopping anyone else (from the floor) doing the same. Ended up one standing area.

Edit; my arena (standing) tickets are 746 & 747!
