A man is believed to have committed suicide because he was suffering from tinnitus for three months after watching a Them Crooked Vultures gig, according to reports.

I've mentioned my tinnitus a few times. I got it from the PPF tour in 2005. It's thoroughly horrible to begin with and you never know how much silence means to you until you never get to hear it again. It's second nature to me now but I do need sleeping pills.

Anyone thinking of putting up with three hours of this without taking earplugs along with them could end up regretting it forever. My biggest fear is that the ringing in my ears gets permanently louder due to overexposure to Autumnsong. What if the song echoed over and over in my head for the rest of my life? Then suicide really would be the only option.

Well, I don't usually wear earplugs at gig, also because I'm already partially deaf and earplugs will be a pain in the arse. Anyway, I didn't wear them at Glasto either (front row for shows from 11am to 23pm) and I'm def fine

Earplugs are the way to go for indoor shows. Sound carries a bit differently at outdoor shows and you don't usually need them then - unless you're sitting/standing right by the speakers.

It's not hard to carry a cheap pair of foam plugs in your bag.

I know, but I don't like wearing them. I'm really deaf, I wasn't joking. Being deaf+earplugs=well, just stay home and put a record on.

I wear earplugs at gigs and have never had a problem with them. I usually buy mine from Boots.
