I can remember a few years back that music and video exchange notting hill gate had several copies of lionrock at the same time, therefore i very much doubt that only 20 exist. The confusion is probably the number mailed as explained.

The Australia Lionrock white label is a weird one too. There's supposed to be 20 of those.. There are 6 of them on sale on discogs right now and one on eBay. According to discogs 4 people have it.. Well, it says 5 but one of em is for sale... 11 accounted for.. I'm sure ForeverDelayed.com has it too, don't know if he's on discogs though. I dunno, it's just weird. If there are only 20 of them, I'm suprised that over a quarter of them are on sale now. Ah, I'm confusing myself, is there any wonder I'm not a statistician?

yup, got it. and i thought you did well with the stats and all, although i did read that about 6 times ahaha

Hello everyone! Fan from the US here, so I have no idea what I am doing, collection-wise. After scouring my local record shop yesterday, I picked up a copy of TIMTTMY with what the label says is a "limited edition" embossed CD case, and a copy of the 1996 Brit Awards compilation CD that has Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head. Are either of these worthwhile finds?

The embossed Truth CD is certainly less common than the standard edition and was only available for a limited period when it came out. Not sure about value but a nice addition to any collection for sure! Brit Awards cd would be practically worthless but necessary for a complete collection.

Canadian clams again: I just saw on discogs that they claim there are 300 sets. I've never found an exact number stated anywhere (apart from the "12" myth), and the contributor on discogs was a music journalist and owns the set, so I tend to believe that.

He did, and what he writes is very interesting. Finally an explanation why Canada got a better promo item than the UK:

I knew the guy at Virgin Canada and he had a friend in the office who was a massive Manics fan and was over the moon they were signed to Virgin in Canada.

I was working as a journalist for a website in Canada at the time and was interviewing James from the band and as part of the promo pack, I was given this three pack and was told that the guy who was a fan put them together as a fan and that there was only 300 copies (these were his words - could have been less) and that I was to tell no one about them I figure, as this was over 15 years ago, I'm free to discuss now.

I always thought what I had received was a) something very limited and b) something put together by a fan and not just a promo/marketing department.

From what I understand the pack didn't have a press sheet, due to the hush hush nature of them, but I imagine I would have received a general press sheet for the This Is My Truth album I also received.

that's incredible. finding out about a limited promotional item from canada after 15 years. crazy.

300 seems right though, although there could be less. i bet the actual number of the items that eventually found their way to various market places aren't more than 50.

Maybe the 300 refers to 100 of each CD?

Might help explain why so few appear.

Ah had a suspicion that one would've been you. Yeah, I'm on there same name. Yeah, it's weird isn't it? If it's such a collectors' item, there don't seem to be that many people keen to keep hold of it!

Thanks for that Just bizarre really isn't it? Why is there even such a thing as a hush hush promo, defeats the object surely. I like the ones I've got anyway, and I think a couple of the remixes aren't available elsewhere? On cd, at least..

Finally got hold of a Holy Bible tour programme. Dunno why it's taken me this long to get it, wasn't much of a priority at the time.. Thinking about getting more into promo materials, got a couple of shop display things. Well happy with the Holy Bible programme, somone paid over £40 for one a couple of weeks ago and mine was less than tenner with postage, job's a good un.
