Went out for a bit to Liverpool.
Last page 102. And I think I'll be hiiiigh as a kite by 110. And I thought my day couldn't get better than giving both fingers As bus passenger driving slowly past Covid placard protesters To my delight when WiFi back I checked Facebook Fuck in hell I'm a Manics fan Manics fan And I can remember when they last topped the charts Yeah I thought my couldn't be better than giving both fingers As bus passenger driving slowly past Covid placard protesters To my delight when WiFi back I checked Facebook Oh fuck in hell I'm a Manics fan Manics fan And I can remember when they last topped the charts! As well as being pissed off I'm using Elton John. But how about that? FAMILY GUY HADN'T BEEN BROADCAST SINCE 1998. How bizarre. And made up!!! |

Fantastic news!
Feels like this achievement came as something totally unexpected by the band. They look genuinely surprised.

Congrats to the band!! Super happy for them. I don't think my purchases/streams from the US counted but I was there in spirit

Excellent! Let’s hope this means that #1 album / “mass communication” albatross has finally been lifted from round Nicky’s neck…

27,000 Sales
The chart battles echoes their tussle for the top spot back in 1998, when Manics’ This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours beat Steps’ Step One to Number 1 by a hefty 95,000 sales. The margin is considerably closer this time, with just 2,000 chart sales separating them. 91% of Manics’ chart sales were physical, including 6,300 copies on vinyl, meaning it takes the top spot on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart.

Let them have today to rejoice and then can we all get back to complaining again tomorrow?

I wonder how many of those 18,000 were cassettes. I reckon they had at least 15,000 CD sales. And people say the format's dead.

Phenomenal result. Our hard work paid off, well done everyone for buying them their much coveted number one (just kidding!).
I was genuinely worried yesterday but we turned it around in a big way. Not even the Steps promo machine was a match for the crazy MSP fanbase! FD has come back to life as well, what a batshit week it's been.

Let's all come back in a year and share anecdotes about on how we've repurposed our TUVL copies into useful every day knick knacks.
