Oh and apparently he said he had lots of material for another solo album. \o/
I second the 'dying of jealousy'-part!

The chat was really interesting, I must check out some of the poets he chatted about.

Nicky is lovely, I can't believe how long he stayed on afterwards to chat to us all. Such a genuine guy. I'm definately a Nicky girl now.
If I'd ever have a chance tot alk to him I'd probably die. he's so beautiful and his accent is so fantastic I'd probably just drop dead right there and then.

He was asked about a film abt the Manics and who he would want to play him in it. He said there had been lots of interest and specifically during last year. John Hurt would have had to play Richey cos he could do a great accent and the similar mannerisms. He then said he reckons No Manifesto should just be put on Sky and have done with it. Got the impression he thought it had just gone on too long.

Wished I'd hung around and met Nick again but had to leave to get my lovely fella back to work; was great though.
so there *is* an album in the making? A Manics'-album, that is? or did he mean a solo-album...or both?

(sorry for asking so much)

Sounds like he was referring to the tentatively-titled It's Not War - Just the End of Love which had previously been forecast for sometime 2011. I would certainly not mind another solo album as well though.

Yeah manics album - he reckonned probably mid/late September if it all goes to plan and then a tour. I think the year off was meant as 12 months rather than a calender year and US tour ended what early October.

Also from what Phil was saying I think the record has a new title probably as he said he knew the title and the old one which wasn't working and then Wire interjected that nothing was final yet.

Solo stuff I get the impression is more a case of if he wants to make it, as he reckoned he had the songs back in 2008, its just timing and the manics (which if they are on a roll you wouldn't want to stop) and the inclination etc. That said Zeitgeist was recorded in something like two weeks so its hardly a massive undertaking.

I was interested to hear how Nicky said if it was the 90's the album would have been recorded quicker? So does this means album leaks are really getting to him? Or was it a reference to getting older?

I think album end of September, so then tour end of September/beginning of October. Don't know if we'll be lucky enough to have a European tour though..
