A proper tour of Postcards would be good!

Well it is kind of hypocritical to say it's ok for you to criticise setlists because 'it's your choice' to go to the gigs, when you just basically used the same argument against James to suggest he doesn't have to go to the gigs because he doesn't like certain aspects of the tour. It is as you say, a discussion forum, so palming people off with 'well you don't have to go you know' just because they're questioning things the Manics have done (not necessarily setlists either) seems a bit contradictory.
Not really, I comment about setlists knowing full well the band aren't going to change or listen to me. If I was really bothered about them, I could not go to the gigs. Also, there's a bit of a difference with wanting things on the tour or songs changed and wishing they weren't touring.

Quote:
We don't all have to love everything they do. I'm bored of certain songs, but I still go because I enjoy the gigs overall and I don't think any of us need to be told we don't have to go as soon as we say we don't like something.
He didn't say he didn't like something, he said he wished they weren't playing more gigs. The obvious and really the only answer to which is don't go. I think his comment was pretty likely to get the response I gave if not something rather less polite from someone in a country where they never go.

I'm already planning for the next gig so they can't not play any more!

Not that i can say anything, because i have permanently banned myself from moaning about the set.

I must admit that i was a little bored during the last few songs in Dublin, and headed off to the bar. But four times in 8 months was too much for me, so it's my own fault really.
December is a long way off, so will have to see how i feel at the time.

If they tour in December I'll be happy, cos I'll be back from my travells and it'll make a nice Christmas present a family member can buy me. I don't get to see them multiple times every year, so I'll be happy to see them again for sure!

I want Postcards to get the proper airing it deserves. Hopefully more album tracks will appear at the festivals they are performing at!

My point was more touring under the banner of a Greatest Hits tour rather than touring at all. By all means do a few gigs at christmas as a one off but don't make out like theyre going to be any different to any gig they've done in the last 12 years let alone 12 months, especially in terms of set. And well they have over saturated themselves this last year, 44 odd headline gigs in support of PFAYM and there's not much to distinguish between much of them.

Which REALLY doesnt need pointing out at all and well I'll go if I want, I'll also not go if I don't feel like it that's of no concern to anyone but myself. Just cause I feel disenchanted with them doesn't mean I don't still enjoy the gigs when I see them. And well if there's other country's begging to be played in they should go play there!

And do you really think anyone else expects the band to listen to their demands? It doesn't mean we're not allowed to comment.

Questioning why a band may be embarking on yet another tour doesn't really need to be met with the response of 'don't go' though. I think it's reasonable enough to wonder about it whilst at the same time still wanting to go. I don't really see why you need to take it upon yourself to decide what someone else should or shouldn't do.

I'm sure those in other countries who don't get the privilege of regular tours would also say the same thing in response to those who moan about setlists.

Oh dear, I dread to see the arguments if this tour actually happens.

Anyone who went to the Manchester G-MEX (or Central or whatever its called) could testify as to the mass of arse that came flying towards the floor....though mass would be the wrong word at that gig seeing as it was barely even a quarter full, same with the Brum NIA gig

Brum 2007 was a good gig if that's the one you're referring to. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I didn't say you couldn't, just an observation.

It wasn't wondering about it, it was saying 'no more gigs'...and to which the obvious response, unlike 'I wish they'd play xxxx' is to just not bother going. There's a difference between loving their gigs but wishing they'd play something you'd want to see and wishing for no gigs.

Quite probably, they do.
