How much influence do the band themselves have over merch? I suppose they'll pick the designs between them (the PFAYM merch reeked of Nicky) but isn't quality of the prints / shirts more a management thing?

I don't know who the 'they' are...quite probably the label or whoever manages the tour, I would guess.

Yes, it's management-marketing-whatever thing. Some bands don't even pick the designs themselves.

Wait, there was merch?

On my way in, I couldn't see anything at all. Or was it only set up after the gig? If that was the case, no way was I going to risk spending even more money on a taxi to Newbridge just for the sake of a T shirt. As it happens, things worked out fantastic, and I caught the bus home and everything.

Awesome gig I thought. I was in a weird mood in the days leading up to it, just feeling pretty miserable. That was just what the doctor ordered.

Apart from the drunk knobhead yelling out requests for songs like "Donkeys" and "RP McMurphy", he can go die in a fire.

I do hope Revol stays in the set on future tours though, I don't get why the band had a low opinion of it in the past. I'd be happy if it replaced "Faster" as the token THB track most nights.

I think I may have been directly behind you, actually, and I think I heard some odd reactions to certain songs. That's one of them.

I also missed the merchandise. Must have set up after I went in. Catch it in Bristol.

When introducing Nasmyth, James said "he went away but now he's back, they always come back". There was an evil part of me that immediately thought "... except Richey". I'm a terrible person.

Review of last night's Newport Centre gig

'Incendiary and tender, beautiful and bruised, burnished with joy and tempered with pathos, this was a snapshot of life’s agonies and victories wrapped in a 90 minute valedictory assault.' (Review of Manic Street Preachers at Newport Centre)

Lots of pics from last night's show here...
