Unfortunately, due to illness tonights Manic Street Preachers show at Hard Rock Cafe has been postponed. The bands lead singer, James-Dean Bradford is suffering from Laryngitis and is unable to perform. The show will be rescheduled for next year. Apologies for any inconvienence this has caused to those on the guest list!

That Bradford guy is really starting to get on my wick. He only plays the triangle, ffs.
Imposter!

I doubt it ever truly went away in the first place tbh and doing all the gigs in Australia and Japan immediately after the UK tour probably didn't help. These things can take time; even bog standard colds can take weeks to shift. I'm on about the 5th or 6th week of my cough now.

Sorry to all those who were going and had travel/accommodation

He should have cancelled more gigs in the first instance and let himself recover properly.

Not at all, I think James needs to commit to a month off at least and get himself sorted out.

I hope he's fine for Birmingham for my own selfish attendance reasons but damn, hope he'll be alright.

It's a damn shame verging on farcical, but I don't think it's ridiculous. What were they meant to have done? People aren't a machine or service that's simple, predictable or reliable. For all we can say in hindsight he needed more rest (which isn't even necessarily the case), if they'd cancelled all the dates up until Christmas at the first sight of a sniffle people would have moaned at them for over-reacting.

I know it's still early, but I'm getting nervous again about those shows. And it's way too much stress for a band/gig.

I still think he should've cancelled the rest of the UK gigs, in order to make it to Oz and Japan in better health.
I understand he's not a machine, but humans are also capable of a bit of logical thinking!

As far as i can see they have nothing on at all in January before these gigs. So despite all this, I am not too worried about the Brixton dates. If they start adding more of these one off gigs in the run up to the Brixton dates, then i would be getting worried and quite pissed off with the band too.

It's hard to come down hard on the band for this. It's all in sync with the promotion for SKON and it has to be done. They were taking a risk, if the gigs this week were finalised after the last bout of illness, last month.

If the gigs this week had been right before the rescheduled Birmingham gig and i was going to it, I would be livid with the band. But he has 14 days to recover and should be fine.

Exactly... let's hope they don't reschedule these two in January and that they won't come up with some more 'competition only' gigs or something.

And James, quit smoking FFS!!!

It IS slightly ridiculous that it's been postponed but in a way, I'm kinda glad - it's started snowing very heavily where I live, so I'd have trouble getting the train there and back.

The band should have just pulled the foreign leg of the tour and let James recoup, it would have given them a good few weeks of rest as well before going off on this now. Looks like they won't be on telly then!
