That must be the first time in like....God knows how long James has actually shouted at the end of EMG going "...an explanation, AAATION!!" instead of doing in a girly high pitch voice. THAT alone made that gig amazing for me and makes me love EMG live again!

And if you guys get the chance, check out Royal Blood who were on the stream before the Manics. They were mega too.

Well that was fucking awesome!
The crowd in the tent were very vocal which surprised me. There was a proper mosh pit during Tsunami!!! Is that a first?! Well done Manics. Pissed all over everyone else including Biffy. |

Just based on the video... Tolerate sounds phenomenal and I wish they keep that version for a while (the final minute is pretty glorious); I love how they've started to breathe new life to live Tsunami ever since the National Treasures gig, it's gone from a flaccid outing into a proper rock blaster; Let's Go to War sounds like a future crowd pleaser and I really loved hearing the crowd getting into the singalong; it's been several years already since Wire and Murray started being active on the microphone, someone demuffle their mics and mix them higher already.

The stream mix was really good for this gig. Wire's bass was nice and chunky. The new improved Tolerate is prob my fav "hit" at the minute.

I asked the BBC Red Button twitter why they excluded Walk Me To The Bridge and PCP, and got a reply not giving a specific reason, but that it could have been due to rights issues?

I've never seen James doing the windmill before. More of that sort of thing!
As for Walk Me To The Bridge - probably just for reasons of timing I'd say.

Saying its a rights issue seems odd seeing as they had the rights to broadcast them for glasto. Timing makes more sense

Everything seemed to be delayed by about 20 minutes was it? Sounds like, to accommodate that and get everything in, timing makes most sense for cutting songs. Were Pixies cut at all? Or maybe there was some technical problem.
I wonder if they/their management get the say on what's cut (if it was planned, etc)? You might have expected that the new single would be something they'd prefer to be broadcast. Something like MASH or It's Not War might have been considered more dispensable if they're trying to sell the new album. Or maybe they were more concerned with making sure the hits were broadcast.

Id say its the shows producers... wanting to show what they think people want to see

BBC broadcasting 3 new songs + Revol: that's not bad at all.
It is indeed weird they didn't show Walk Me To The Bridge instead of e.g. Lets Go To War. (But as a fan I'm pleased: a HD-version of Lets Go To War! ) What a storming version of Design For Life! Wire doing everything to ensure the #2 spot!

What I saw of this looked excellent. I'm surprised Theme from MASH is back.
