That happens to any artist, actually. I too am most proud with the drawing I have just finished. Until the next one.

I've just been listening to the Lifeblood era interviews, with a wry smile on my face. "Ah yes Mr Jones, you say that now."

Well RTF has so far spent double the amount of time Lifeblood had in the top 75.
That might sweeten it... but it depends how the next single goes down. And how it goes in the end of year polls. |

they should do quite well in the end of year polls. Most of the reviews have been excellent

Thank you for continuing to do this Lindz, I do enjoy reading them.
I must agree with those who are disappointed with some of the answers though. You would think given that it's a personal interview he'd have an answer on free school meals though. But that said, we're hardly going to give him a very hard time on here are we? Spot on about Gove and Hunt though. Didn't Hunt go under a different name when he managed a company? Or am I getting him confused with someone else? I mistrust him because of that, and also because of his driving through of the purely ideological pro business agenda for the NHS.

He is probably sulking because they have stopped his Child Benefit

The original point of child benefit was to make sure money got to mothers - as the usual sole breadwinner of a household, Dad's money would quite often end up in the pub or the bookies. CB was introduced in times of yore to make sure that mothers had a guaranteed income (of sorts) for their children. In these days of dual incomes and higher earners, it was right that that should be reassessed.

I completely agree with the principle of doing it, but it's the odd way in which it has been organised....If I earn £5k and Kev earns £53k we don't get it, but if we both earn £49k each we still get it? I don't understand!!! Also, FSM for 5-7 year olds great....but where the hell is this money coming from? Cuts to CB. So if you're a high earner with a 5 year old in school, they are gonna stop you CB but your kid is gonna get FSM. Ridiculous, in my view. |

The introduction of Free School Meals for all children aged 7 and under would go a long way to solving a number of problems in schools and would help to provide a considerable number of jobs in schools for lunchtime staff.
There is valid research that links lack of nutrition and a balanced diet to lack of progress in school, underachievement regarding milestones and developmental delay in children. Meals for all children would reduce the huge problems faced by many children who bring packed lunches to school that are totally inadequate and not nutritious in any way and also enable parents to spend their money on other food for the family and other things, so reducing overall costs. It would free up time spent shopping for and making packed lunches and cleaning lunchboxes (or finding half eaten sandwiches etc in the bottom of school bags) It would help to tackle childhood obesity, which is a rapidly growing epidemic in this country, and help to educate children about a balanced diet and menu across a week; encouraging children to eat a variety of food and try new things, which can often be done far more easily in a school setting rather than at home. Children would learn to socialise while eating lunch and would benefit from having quality time with their friends at lunchtime. Economically a huge number of school kitchens would have to be re-fitted (and regularly maintained) in order to cook school meals and so provide jobs in every local community. Schools would have to employ more staff as cooks, kitchen staff and lunchtime supervisors and provide more jobs in every area of the country. Although these wouldn't add up to huge numbers they would still enable more people to have part time jobs that fit in with school holidays and so support family life and reduce childcare costs that cripple many families with young children. It's one of the most sensible suggestions by any political party to come out of Westminster in a long time. I just worry that it will never happen.
