It'll be interesting to see how many copies this week's number 2 sells. |

Could probably look up the number of sales for those weeks?

I think the site ukmix.org will have all the chart sales (will have a look around), but this wiki page gives the sales for each No.1.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_in...ber-one_albums Had they released Futurology at the start of April they'd have probably been fighting it out with Kaiser Chiefs for top spot - 23,767 and 16,086 for their two weeks. I guess it all depends on who releases an album or has just released an album. Some weeks you could get top spot with 20,000 sales, others you'd need 120,000. Suppose that's why so many people say chart placings are irrelevant. |

Apparently Morrissey's new one is out this week, so will be interesting to see how he does. He's in a similar situation to The Manics I suppose, established artist, doesn't get much radio play any more but has a hardcore fanbase...

Tuesday update Mozzer is No2 on 9k sales behind Sh##ran's 11k. Less than Futurology at the same point last week.
No sign of MSP in the new top 5. |

The journalists over in the US don't acknowledge the Manics at all (aside from like, Pitchfork) so the Holy Bible is a good example of a little-known treasure at least over here.

By the looks of it, Pitchfork have seemingly forgotten about them too. Neither RTF or Futurology got a review from them.

So they would have been no 1 this week?

If they don't receive a review copy they generally won't review it and I imagine that's what happened.

If it had been released this week they would've been fighting Morrissey for column inches and I suspect they would've lost. That would have undoubtedly had an affect on sales.

Also, I suspect they both might have still lost out to Sheeran.

Considering neither have been released in the States...
