The phoned it in version of Walk Me To The Bridge comes to mind...shudder.
With regard to it's not war, I like how it's a complete rewrite. The other demo's usually sound like lesser versions of the final product.... |

Good points. They have definitely improved in quality and diverged less from the final versions.
Come on lads, unless you've changed how you write, these ain't demos as such!

There's probably numerous demos at different stages of almost every song they've ever recorded. I get what people are saying about the recent CD2 trend making it feel a bit like the demos are a consideration for the final product now, but I don't think we need to be too cynical about it, they'd almost certainly still be recording demos if they didn't release them alongside the finished album. And it's really just a word/perception that could be changed to 'alternate version' anyway. I'm glad they have been releasing them, and I hope they continue to.

I loved the acoustic Marlon JD demo and the alternate Bag Lady from the JFPL doco.

Let's Go To War was very bare-bones, probably the only interesting demo on CD2.

Is there a proper version of Destroy the Dancefloor out there? I've only heard the version from the horse and groom gig.

In fairness, they do have a fully-kitted out rehearsal room/recording studio that they potter about in these days, within about an hour's commute of each. Probably as easy for them to work up a song there as it is to do anything rough and ready in their houses, although...
1. James does record vox/guitar/metronome demos occasionally 2. Nicky does do the odd video recording 3. I'm not sure Sean's composing much at all these days.
