I don’t see a ‘split’ any time - they’ve come to far for that - but a retirement will come along one day. I don’t see them touring in their 80s.

Last song? Part of me really hopes they’ll do something ludicrous and contrary like Ballad of the Bangkok Novotel or Glasnost. But realistically it’s going to be one of four songs: Design for Life, Motown Junk, You Love Us or Suicide Alley.

They'll keep on making music for a while I think as they have their own studio, but perhaps slow down on touring in the future years until they need a nice cash influx. I don't see them 'ending' as a band officially unless something serious sadly happens. If I had to pick one song for the ending, I guess Design For Life, and I'd love to see James scream out the vocals and sing "A design for life" not "Waah design for life" which he's been doing for like ten years now haha.

Until last year I would have said Design, but since their tweak in Tolerate (see Glasto-version), I'd happily die after this final performance.

Obviously Happy Ending should be the last one.

This Is Yesterday, full band version although it's my favourite of James' little acoustic numbers.

Suicide Alley, bring it full circle.

I don’t want them to call it a day and I don’t think they want to either. Not many bands know when their last gig is gonna be, and I suspect that’ll be the case for Manics. Still gonna sit on the fence though, I’m sure Wire in particular would love the idea of making a massive occasion of a last gig. Hopefully a few more albums in em yet, but however the last gig happens, whether it’s planned or by circumstance you’d have to expect A Design For Life, probs get its closer spot back again before long.
