It's a good song and that's what I thought on the first listen. The lyrics are good, and the chorus is catchy as many have said. However I don't get the hit song feeling from it as I did with YLAINE, but I do think I'll eventually prefer this to that song.

I'd have rather had no Nicky vocal in there at all, but it's worse that it's like half a line rather than a full line, making it seem more pointless. His prominent bass cameo in the song is much better and should've been left at that.

And I think the end of the first "and I'll pay mine" line is a bit clunky, and should've been stretched a bit.

Nice does not mean mediocre. Ridiculous statement. Here Comes the Sun by the Beatles...nice and genius.

I like the verses, but falls down a bit on the chorus for me. to my ears, it doesn't hook in as much as 'your love alone' did - that was an immediate, unprecedented 4 minutes of mass communication, that they haven't replicated here.

I just played it to Mr Delirium and he said "it sounds like the Manics".

Is that good, or bad?

The only reason I mentioned both albums in the same sentence was because people have mentioned songs from both those albums in this thread, saying they wish they'd do more stuff in a similar vein to those. I never said the two albums were similar to each other.

The R factor was a massive thing for JFPL. I dare say making that album was a chore in so much that the band aren't those people anymore but wanted to leave a fitting legacy for a friend. It was hard work (and it showed as it was an excellent album).

So expecting them to do it again (especially so soon) is a little naive especially when the band said this record will be light and fluffy and they veer from sound to another so often. We may see some songs like JFPL again, but not on this record and not in such quantity.

They really are a fucking weird band. Can't think of anyone else who divides fans as much as they do, and it's prolific for anyone to put albums out in consecutive years these days. Definitely looks like a massive transition from JFPL too!

Suppose THB and JFPL comparisons are fair enough really.. If I had to compare two Manics albums, I'd probably go for those two.

aye, but Nicky himself has said "it's SATT pt 2," which this single reinforces. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there will be some amazing songs on there, I just don't think the Manics are going to try anything new from now on. I don't want them to get on this treadmill of just rehashing a diluted version of EMG over and over. Hopefully the album will prove me wrong, I sincerely hope it does.
