Do you think the vocals were a tribute to the end of Talking Heads's "Heaven"?
Too late to listen again right now. But it's my weekend jam! |

Forgot to mention that it's "holy shit, new Manics!" time and I'm feeling it. Never gets old.

I love how this song is upbeat and Manicy. I love the dry stone walls lyric and James's voice.

Much less frequently than I used to be! The cryptic email and the excitement of a new track caught my attention.
Some things never change though, like us lot being critical of the lead single! I was hoping for a gloomier/grittier sounding album next which doesnt sound too likely based on this, but you never know. Ill still be at the gigs no matter what.

I like the new song. Makes me optimistic about the new album.

After giving it another listen I'm liking it more today. The chorus is too big maybe too try hard? Any song with "dry stone walls" is no bad thing.

Re: the Squeeze sample/interpolation. Given neither Difford nor Tilbrook play drums it looks like whoever played that wont get the credit anyway

Finally! I've been waiting the theme tune to go with a random 90s Australian tween show shown in the summer mornings on UK tv that explores what's beyond the bottom of the barrel.

Hey all. After a few listens I love the new song, it hit hard for personal context reasons. I think the lyrics are great, but just for fun I tried a postmodern alternate interpretation based on tangential connections and previous manics titles. Try singing along for maximum effect (some of the rhythms may need a couple of goes, but isnt that always the way with Manics songs anyway?)

Quote:
However, songs like Show Me the Wonder, It's Not War, International Blue, Orwellian, I've found cheesy, unimaginative and/or lazy. This new one is most definitely closer to the latter three for me. Very 'Manics on autopilot'. I'll see what the album's like at least, I still loved about half of TUVL. One thing I did find interesting was the line 'divide and dissolve'. Divide and Dissolve is the name of a loud, droning doom band from Australia. I wonder if Nicky knows them and pilfered the name for a lyric. |

Almost three years since the release of TUVL, and we have a new single! Am really enjoying it.
I was hoping the album would maybe be this year, but it looks like maybe Jan/Feb 2025. Cannot wait! |
