I really like Postcards, but am I the only person who prefers Send Away The Tigers?

do we have to choose between the two? That's like choosing between torture and painful death.

After JFPL I wrote off SATT, but PFAYM made me appreciate SATT again.

Personal favourites on the album are auto-intoxication, the future has been here forever, some kind of nothingness and it's not war.
Because it's lyrics are better in my view. SATT is the one album that in my view has nothing. It has a melancholy video in Indian Summer which I like but thats it. The SGD actually sounds too similar in texture and movement so they go and stick them together?!?

I still like some of Postcards, it's not amazing but I like it, Platitudes really does hit the spot for me.

Being bored of one album doesn't automatically mean that you're bored of all the rest of them. You sound more the opposite - if you like one album, you have to like them all.

yep. If I could choose any two albums from history to erase, it would be them.
Thankfully, ha would mean I'd think the manics would have a near perfect back catalogue.

Agreed. It doesn't make sense to say "you don't like this, how can you like the manics?". It's a bit ... odd.

No. SATT isn't an amazing album but it has a spark of originality, something a little bit special about it, that PFAYM most certainly lacks.

Oh TGW.

Lifeblood is a beautiful album, perfectly crafted with some really thought provoking, intellectual lyrics.
EMG is a fantastic album showcasing the extremities of The Manics, lyrically and musically. The downright brilliance of such songs as A Design For Life, Small Black Flowers and No Surface All Feeling contain powerful lyrical imagery and diverse musical styles which are evident to any listener.
SATT has a ferocity to it. A drive. It's an album that has great flaws, granted, but it also has an overwhelming sense of, 'We are not dead. We still have lots to give and by God, are we going to give it to you whether you like it or not.'

It is this beauty, intelligence, originality and ferocity that I love in The Manics and unfortunately, when they were throwing everything they could into this album, those were four important traits they completely forgot about.

i don't understand how people prefer SATT to postcards tbh. I got bored of that album very very quickly whereas i'm still regularly playing this one. I do like strings mind.

Same. I get bored with SATT it really easily, I think PFAYM has a bit more to it then SATT.

I do like SATT but out of the two I'd choose PFAYM.
