I wonder if they'll have a go at a World Cup song for Wales now. I was one of the few fans of Together Stronger (although I do prefer SFA's Bing Bong) but it would be great to see them take another crack at it.

There's a very good reason why I scrolled two and a half years through the Manics instagram, but anyway, does anyone know if these beauties are available to purchase anywhere?

Was just messing around seeing if there are any songs that are only available in certain countries on Spotify. Turns out the Nicky Wire demo of It's Not War is available if you're in Cyprus or Greece and the second disc of remixes from Forever Delayed is available pretty much everywhere apart from the UK and Ireland.

Don't want to mess up the James Has Covid thread. But have concerns that when he pulls through, future tour dates might get shorter and shorter.
Probably overthinking it. |

Well if the Covid keeps coming back, they could look at reducing their tour dates to limit the risk.
I'd rather they didn't and went on to play more shows. But it was just a feeling I had. It's really quiet here these days. |

I don't see MSP as being a "lock yourself away until there's zero covid" sort of band

You can get covid anywhere so that wouldn't guarantee anything ....can't see them doing that

I don't think they'd have safety/moral concerns at times like these, now that the pandemic is ending.
However, if you're a singer, you need your lungs to perform, and if covid leaves a long lasting trace, like it happens to a lot of people, that could be a big problem that might affect the tour dates and James' performance over all. Of course, the main concern is his well being in general, though.

I asked this young Welsh streamer on Twitch if she liked the Manics. She said she didn't dislike them but they were a bit 'soft rock' for her.

To be honest, although I love this band, I agree they're a bit "soft rock", but I don't think that's a weakness at all.
The world is beautiful because it's diverse. If I'm in the mood for some straight edge style hard core, I'll go with, say, Minor Threat, if I'm in the mood for something softer, or more melodic, I'll go with, indeed, something softer and more melodic, and the Manics do fall into this category. So, if being "soft rock" is a bad thing, I'd suggest something like, indeed, Us Against You, Sculpture of a Man, or Judge Yourself, at this point. On the other hand, the heavier sounding songs are usually b-sides and album tracks, while the stuff that's more likely to be heard by chance on the radio are, once again, soft indeed. So I do understand that, someone who didn't bother to actively search the band, they'd have this impression of them as "pop rock".

That feeling when you were going to make a thread about Latitude Festival thinking it was today. But it's 24th of JULY!

Melody Maker's Diary of a Manic Street Preachers Fan.
I... Thought it was amusing slightly. But can anyone remember what happened in the last installment? |
