If this is anything like The Cure's last album, the second may not appear if the first doesn't do well. They were supposed to release a 'light' (ahem) and a 'dark' version of 4:13 but 4:13 Nightmare has never materialised, and after disappointing sales of 4:13 Dream Universal dropped them.

Hopefully that won't happen, but it's just like MSP to do something ambitious so publicly, that could come back and bite them.

That is my greatest fear as the band themselves have previously stated that they may not release the second album - I think it was that Q interview bit from the studio where they said that.

Didn't know that. But if they already have the songs, I guess they will do it. Or maybe not...

This IS the Manics, after all! Common sense doesn't seem to come into it, so god knows what they'll do. (I want both albums!!)

There doesn't seem to be much to go on with the 'ending up in the vaults' thing. Could be a comment which was meant to be humorous which ended up looking serious on paper, not unusual for the Manics..

Maybe the second album will be included in a deluxe package or something like that.

The only thing I don't like about the 2 albums idea is that they signed with their label for X albums and they seem to be in a hurry to have these done

Really? If they were in a hurry they'd release them both around the same time, not 6 months apart. These songs also started to be written in early 2012, they're eager to release a ton of music that they've come up with, not to fulfill some contract. it was them that agreed to extend the 10 album deal.

It's not unusual for a band to go through a 'creative process' and release a wealth of material. Some put them out as a double album - which was an option I believe? - others put them out as eps with an album, or some do the double album thing. Stay safe, the albums will be out and I don't think we need to worry about the record contract just yet!

I know the feeling! I am so excited that they are finally doing not just one but two albums that sound exciting, but a nagging voice in my head wonders whether there will be more albums after that. I'm a gloomy git!

I don't think so.It has been three years since PFAYM.And that is a long time where they might have been very prolific.Tbh I don't wanna even think of them not making music any more.I know that will happen at some point but I hope it will be as late as possible.
