At least Nixon was something different. With 1985 it would have been 'Oh it's those Manics again..................' This is the public at large we're talking about!

No. That's what everyone said with YLAINE and INW. 1985 is miles from the 'classic' Manics sound whilst still being sweeping and beautiful. I love TLORN but it's easy to see that 1985 would have won A LOT more people around and frightened a lot less away.

OK I know I'm in a funny mood but am I the only one who is a bit pissed off with this idea of another "version" of the 02 show? This was supposed to be a one off event, special, no repeat, no encore etc etc. God they even used the line on the publicity for the gig.

I'm know other people who can't make it might be really happy abt the possibility of another gig BUT I only booked this because it was a big event and a one-off!

I know Nicky isn't the most reliable person for things not happeneing but why all the publicity, tv etc abt it being a one-off special, big send off before they take time off and reinvent themselves if they are now talking abt a "version" being done next year????

So much for taking time off.......

You are so bloody frustrating sometimes!

This is a one off. 38 songs in an arena. They won't be taking that around the world even if they want to.

With regards to 1985, it would still have got to No 2 like Nixon and Empty Souls, if it had even managed that! It's effect on Lifebloods sales - the highest it would have got is No 5 in my opinion. And that would have been pushing it! The NME were more or less ignoring them at the time. I've spoken to a casual fan before who didn't even know they had an album called Lifeblood out!

The Manics don't do 'taking time off' very well! It's probably James' idea!

No worries, Sony may decide that they're not bankable anymore, and won't invest in bringing them to other parts of the world. Nicky liking the idea doesn't mean management saying yes after all...

No SERIOUSLY (and in all caps!). I really REALLY want to see them in Asia. And I've never even been to Japan, but if no one's following me I'll backpack my way with a hiragana guide. Don't give a damn what their motivation is.

That wouldn't be much of a duet But probably a much needed rest for James' voice.

I don't see the point in getting someone else to sing on Robeson, it's not like it's a fast or demanding track for James' voice....I guess we'll find it. I hope McCulloch turns up to sing on SKON and Nina for YLAINE. Anyone else turning up to play guitar on a song or something would be nice. Hell, what about a VIP slot for Naysmith?!?! haha!
