you can usually tell when he's not that into it as some of his fills/timing go a bit sloppy and he just tickles the kit but last night his ride cymbal was bouncing all over the place.
he even had me air drumming to faster!
Yup, and he got the biggest cheer of the night when James was introducing everyone.

About Nicky, I noticed he messed up and changed one of the lines to "I got the fucking words wrong" or something, but nobody minded. Manics are such a family band in a way, all the crowd gave him a great sendoff when he finished and he still did a fantastic job. Didn't hear him say anything when he left the stage though.

Knob heads. I wasn't near them, thankfully.

I do!

Anyway, I just got back so I thought I'd add my bit. (Really, my love for FD isn't that casual. I've been excited about coming back since we got back to Travelodge..) I was down on the barrier just to the right of Nicky, in front of those massive speakers. (which might I add was a fucking awesome place to stand)

Nicky, bless his massive cotton socks, was souldiering on through the set, even though he looked like he was in loads of pain. He still kept grinning though. (especialy when what seemed like the entire hall pointed at Nick for 'what you done to your hair?). He also shouted "You are my guitar hero, JDB" during You Love Us(?).

James was fucking immense. He's a brilliant guitarist, vocalist and a down to earth, lovely guy when he's off stage. His playing was superb and you can tell he really enjoyed himself.

Sean. What can I say? He was perfect. And that's not a word I use lightly. He poured loads of energy and passion into his playing and it sounded outstanding.

They were spot on. Even though it's a new album, they played fantasticly and the crowd looked as if they knew it well from where I was standing. It's easy the best gig I've been to (including other bands, not just them) and the atmosphere, especialy in the second set, was fantastic.

As for meeting FDers, I did bump into Amalthea, Richey and a couple of ex FDers, which was awesome. I also saw a few more I recognised but I didn't speak to them. I was looking for you afterwards, Tracey, but I didn't see you!

Also - is it wierd that I got one of the fellas at the front to give me Wire's water, even though A, it wasn't open, and B, he hadn't even touched it?

I bought the Richey shirt and the badges. Oh, and I got a large FD poster for 1 quid outside.

All in all, a fucking amazing gig.

I seemed to be the only person around me singing along to anything, and I even got funny looks that I knew the words to the JFPL songs.
Having said that was great to hear Sorrow 16, No Surface all Feeling and the return of Tsunami.
Hey Just go for it. Most people wont mind if you get past them and go to where you want to get to. Its a Fuckin rock concert. I dont care if a pint of cider goes in the air and a bit comes down on me. It was actually refreshing last night.
I thought Faster was tame. There only seemed to be a few going for it.
Tsunami should be banished, along with Australia, and YSTSFMH.

Other than that a great gig. 1st Half much better than the 2nd.

On my way to Wolves, I bought myself a big army camo trench coat with lots of pockets to put my phone and money in etc. I was concerned given the reports of thefts recently, so thought best not to take any chances. Practical AND Manics related! Despite the hot weather during the day, I didn't feel too bad wearing it.

For my first ever Manics gig, it was bloody good wasn't it? JFPL was utterly brilliant and the second set didn't let down either.

The less said about the support band, the better. Can anybody really tell the difference between their songs? Because I can't.

Did anyone else think that James looked a little lonely having to bounce around without the Wire for company?

Whilst you can complain about the predictability of the set list, they've virtually perfected the playing of their hits for venues the size of the Civic.

Loved Nicky relating the intro to Faster to the current expenses scandal.

And did I hear James say that they'd see us all again next year?

I'm glad it's not just me who was annoyed by them. At the time I was wondering if I was just a dull human being but they really *were* irritating!

I dunno, they weren't *that* bad. The got on my nerves a little after about the second song but I wouldn't bother buying anything by them and their artwork is rubbish. I've definitely seen worse bands support them.

I was in Yates Wine Bar round the corner from the Civic for a couple of hours before the gig and I saw loads of blokes in Manic's T shirts getting tanked up, I sat up in the seats and was so glad as I would have been terrified in the middle of all that pushing and shoving.
