well...I don't think so. They decided to do a guitar album which was quite surprising for me. It's almost hard-rock.

And What would you like them to do? To release a good album is what they should do. And they did it. And I treat Bloodsports as their 3rd best album, the best one without Bernard.

I can't put my finger on whether it is some of their finest efforts, worst records, if i've grown away from them or closer...after so many years of me complaining that their records production is constantly making everything sound the same, they might just have done something REALLY different. Lyrically it is the most up and down thing ever. It can go from 1 world class line to confused pissed off 15yr old angst in a matter of one line. I want Futurology now and this one isn't even released yet!!

I like about half of the songs on the album.
The tunes I like are:
This sullen welsh heart-a standout track..really great song.
Show me the Wonder-Nice feel good pop tune.
Rewind the Film-Fantastic tune and great video too
Builder of Routines-Like the tune a lot and especially Sean's trumpet.
I miss the Tokyo Skyline-Musically this is wonderfull.
Maonobier-Any manics instrumental is usually great and
this is no different.

The remaining tunes I dislike because lyrically and musically
they are not good.It has to be said that some of Wires lyrics
are kind of crap

For example the song 30 year war is not a good lyric and for me just
does not work.

Why other people like these below average songs is beyond me.

Maybe I need to listen to them more to get into them but I doubt
I will

.

Other people will no doubt disagree totally with my
opinion which is kind of interesting because so many people
seem to like different tunes on the album which I guess is a
complement to the band as they seem to have something on
this album for all tastes.

Overall it's a great album and 6 great tracks is more than
most other artists can accomplish..
