I'd love to know what percentage of tickets actually go to fans who are going to use them.

Do they hate capitalism? I'd say they're one of its greatest exponents.

They hate it but they take advantage of it - a little disappointing but they're quite jaded and probably don't give a shit anymore. The sentiment's there at least.

Anyway, nah, there's no way the band could have any say over the price of tickets from touts.

yeah, that! it's disappointing. :/ they still talk socialism all he time but it doesn't show when it comes to sales of any kind.

but fair enough if they don't have any say in the ticket prices. or not fair enough...but as fair enough as it gets.

84? Tickets were 30-40 depending on fees.

That's from touts - people who go in, buy a shed load of tickets, and resell them for five or six times the asking price.

It's criminal. Or it should be.

The venues, the band, the agents, the stage managers, none of them have any control over it.

There are things that can be done if there is a will too by all concerned.

I've bought tickets for Hamlet at the Barbican next year, they will have my name on them and I have to provide photo ID and apparently carry it with me at all times (even I suppose when going to the toilet in the interval). My friend will only be admitted if she is with me (hopefully this excludes the toilets!), so she better hope I don't get hit by a bus in the meantime.

A system like this would probably add a couple of extra pounds to each ticket, but it would be worth paying if it avoids fans being at the mercy of the scummy touts.

Scrap tickets altogether in my opinion. Make the card you booked with, and your photo ID your means of entry with an option for a maximum of one extra person.

Problem solved.

A lot of bands use paperless tickets now. Access via your credit card. Far too many global resellers now.

What happens then if you can't make it? I can't see the likes of Ticketmaster being too interested in having to change your details to someone else just for the sake of some arsehole touts.
