I was willing to pay £80. Twice. But that was the limited edition signed hardback run when it was first published

I won't say it was worth every penny, but it is very very nice.

Wow. Lucky you!

Considering what the regular paperback goes for these days, I'd call that a bargain!

Siouxsie: I think you've actually seen many of the book's pics in here -not entirely sure as I don't have the book yet, but I think I recognize the style- what makes the book special, IMO, is that Mitch was (is?) their official photographer and the book is probably the only collection available of his work with the band....

I've read pretty much every book on the band over the years and I have to agree that Price's book is by far the best. I'm sure 98% of the Manics fan community will agree on that. I also really enjoyed the latest Richey book however, minus a few new anecdotes about Richey and the band, it doesn't add to anything that Price or other biographers had touched on previously.

This is true, but I'm sure once you get FD, you'll notice a huge difference in quality - you can't get that from a scanned photo on the net really. The layout ond glossy format will make it worth the price.

I actually never purchased FD (I have most, if not all the pictures in glossy from other sources), but I certainly wouldn't discourage anyone from purchasing it, especially if you're a huge fan or even just a collector.

Do you mean a Version of Reason? I was curious to hear opinions about that actually. I was quite disappointed, as you said, I don't think it added anything to what every fan should already know - if they read Simon's book and the various relevant articles in the press...

Ah well, obviously! I only meant to give Siouxsie an idea of the photos that are included! By all means, if she thinks they're good enough, she should get the book!

I got my Mitch Ikeda standard version for 30 quid - the biggest bargain I've ever had the vast majority of pics is in Appreciation, I'd say 95% circulates on the forum all the time. but it's a really great thing, worth spending every penny.

Simon Price - it's good when you're into the band but don't know some facts about them
@ mistakes - several, not to majors, many dates are wrong, Sean's birthday year is the best example, but also the date of IRMA Awards etc. generally it was very enjoyable

Sweet Venom - it was re-published last year I remember, it says it's updated, I dunno. I read the old version and generally it was, like said before, the gathering of the articles, so I suppose buying Originals would be all way better.

I absolutely enjoyed In Their Own Words - great pics, but the same case as FD book, they're all here. there are only quotes from the interviews, grouped into sections eg. Youth etc. without any comment.

and the last thing I have is The Uses Of Literacy by Jeremy Deller, if we can call it the book and if we can call Jeremy Deller the author. it's absolutely the most incredible thing about the band ever published, I think.

I remember Nicky wrote in one of the questionaires @Black Velvet that Nick Wise's book is utter shit. I suppose it was written for money only, just like Richard or that book about Richey that went out last year.

someone said that Design For Living by Paulka Shutkever is pretty decent, can't say my opinion, I haven't read it yet

I took my copy of "Everything" on holiday with me about 5 years ago and all the glue must have melted because the book is now in chunks where the pages have come away

I still haven't figured out the exact differences between the first and second print of "Everything"... I read in here that there should be some missing parts? Could anyone be more specific?!

The only manics book i've ever read was sweet venom.

I was just gettin into my manics obsession and i read it in one day. not worth it, i felt like the guy hated everythin the band had done before EMG so i dont get why he wrote a book on them
